High there Dave and congratulations on your trip to Death Valley on the ST. I'm almost sure the HeliBars are going to fix that issue. Also do yourself a favor and buy 4 new rubber pads to tilt the seat back (you will need 4 for raised and lowered position). I noticed right away shoulder pressure when riding mine home from the dealership. I put it on the center stand and did my old ergo trick: sit up in a normal relaxed riding position with your eyes closed and see where your hands fall. Do this a few times. Mine consistently fell right where they would be with the HeliBar risers installed.

It amazes me how well the guys engineered those risers. When I called to thank them, I was told that the people who develop these actually ride and do a bunch of testing before releasing the actual end product.

Your rubber risers are PN: 22W-24741-00-00

The HeliBar risers bring the bar up 1 1/4" (32mm) and back 1 1/2" (38mm) for the Gen 2
Thx Chris!
I’ll order the Helibars tomorrow and report back!
I already made my seat level by taping some tap washers on the seat rail. Works good but I might get the rubbers for a more permanent fix.
Dave.

Seat has been upgraded , Will look into the risers and Madstad bracket. Risers are for a even more upright position I take it ??
Yes, and more of a natural hang for the arms. They bring the bars up and back a bit, with no need to replace cables. They come with a brake line extender; install is not very difficult. I'm 6'1 with fairly long arms, but still didn't like the slight reach to the bars with OEM risers. These helped significantly.

I did my first big ride too! About 1200 miles to Death Valley CA. I have a real problem with my shoulders burning after a couple of hours (sometimes less). The last day was almost unbearable. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue and will helibars fix it?
Hey Dave, our longest day was a little over 400 miles and I had zero issues with shoulders/back/neck with the HeliBar risers in place.

I guess I'm more a "set it and forget it" kinda guy. I was looking for a more comfortable touring position and the HeliBars deliver.
Looking at the two risers, Helibars includes a brake line extension (2018 ES). The Rox claims no need to change out the brake lines. It would appear the change in position could be similar between the two. I like the idea of a one piece design (heli) but I REALLY like the idea of not having to crack open my brake line.

Thoughts?

My GPS is mounted to the bar on the Madstat windshield holder. I wanted it to be above, and not obstructing the gage cluster.

Picture of my GPS set up, with my XM radio. Cheap, but has been working for 64K miles.
Is that XM radio one sold by XM? Does it hold up to the rain? I'm guessing, radio to GPS then bluetooth to helmet?

Rox are risers only
Helibars move your bars up and back closer to you

Yes, same one sold by XM. It has been in the rain unprotected a couple of times, and survived, but I normally use a sandwich bag over it in the rain. The GPS is the Zumo, which is waterproof.

I use custom earbuds with speakers in them. I run a speaker wire from the XM, under the tank, and the wire comes out between the tank and seat just in front of me, to plug in. The speaker wire also has an in line volume control. No amps needed.

I don't use the Bluetooth.

But the Rox risers can tilt back, right? I do like the idea of a one piece unit, someone said, set it and forget it. That appeals. I guess maybe I should not be so afraid of breaking open the hydraulic line. Hell, I've bled brakes on the car. Years ago.

I was a bit reluctant to crack the brake line on my new machine too but went with the Heli's anyway.....no worries. Easy-peasy, no need to bleed the system or anything like that, just follow the instructions and you'll be GTG without any dinking around.

The brake line extension was not difficult.
