I did Oldedorf in Southern Germany to home which was 700 miles, the only stops were fuel and food every 150 miles.. And the Tunnel which was 35 mins...

I wouldn't do it again... 250-300 miles id about right..

I've done a couple 600 mile days between Florida and North Carolina. Looking to do some longer rides!

A couple 600+ days. It's not the distance as much as the conditions and time in the saddle. It's a helluva lot easier on the Tenere than it was on the FZ1 (and the FZ1 wasn't too bad).

~700 miles is the limit of comfort for me,.

Scotland trips normally start with a 550 mile first day - getting through Glen Coe before it's dark (to enjoy the view) is my usual goal - that's not uncomfortable. A Wales twip is normally 2-300 miles, barely noticeable.

On my last couple of trips to Norway the last day has been a long one too, Hirsthalls - Hook of Holland was ~650 miles in a day, not a great ride but not uncomfortable. The year before was ~1000 miles down sweden / oresund bridge / ferry to puttgarden / across germany & the netherlands. Finding myself on a fast five lane motorway in heavy morning commuter traffic after nearly 24 hours riding was absolutely horrible.

Normally on a trip I don't plan ahead where i'll be camping - so I limit my ride to a maximum of 10 hours a day, regardless of mileage. If you're not working to a fixed schedule I heartily recommend budgeting on hours, not miles.

distance is kind of a drug. After a few hours you get into this Zen-like state and can roll up some major miles before you really realize just how tired you really are. I start to notice it late in the day when I feel fine on the bike but at stops start to notice I'm a bit off. That's when you want to watch it, the miles start to mask your true condition and things can happen pretty fast at 70-90MPH. Generally speaking I do 700-900 miles a day for the first day or two and then back down to 300-500 mile days past that. I try to get someplace interesting fast and then ease up as conditions and scenery suggest. For some the point is the marathon days, for others it's just a way to get somewhere. I guess I'm in the middle, I like the big mile days but I also like puttering. I've ridden thru the lower 48 and a good chunk of Canada several times and I would guess at the end of a 4-6 thousand mile trip I typically average in the 400 mile day range. As other have suggested tho that tends to skew heavy early, light late. In terms of the S10 it's capable of anything. It is both comfortable and offers good weather protection but is not in the same class as a dedicated touring bike like a Wing or Electra. As such big distance is going to take a little more out of you that the luxury touring rigs would do. The flip side is its more fun once you get there too. Everyone's set point is different. Pay attention to how you really feel at stops and act accordingly.

Stringing together 600 mile days is so easy on the tenere. You just sit there and take in the surroundings. I did a few in a row with a push up to 950 on my longest day this summer on my trip.

Have done quite a few 1,000 plus mile days on Goldwings, my longest day on the Tenere was a little over 600 miles but most of those miles were in cold rain that's the main reason I quit early, my Tenere is not equipped with cruise control which atleast for me would be a pretty big help.

America is a continent with freeway's anawl hence the big mileages, I live in the UK (Scotland) with one main freeway (I use the term loosely) running through the middle, the rest of the roads are a mixed bag, and at this time of year are in a bad state of repair, so 250 miles with overnight accomodation each day works quite well ::008::

I've ridden my Tenere over 2500km in one day, turned around and rode 2000 or so the next day.

Over 4 days? 8500km. The beauty of the Tenere is that its always comfortable.

I've ridden more than 2500km in a day, but that was on an FJR.

Pay attention to the folks talking hours in the saddle and conditions. The miles are a function of time and conditions.
350 miles in the Rockies in a cold rain is a Long. Freaking. Day.

Press it hard enough at least once to find your wall. My wall is around 650 miles / 11 hours in reasonable conditions on good roads. When I am feeling the juice and can bash through the wall, I can go on and on. Gas, pee and go. But some days the wall is insurmountable, it pays to recognize that and stop for a good rest and recharge.

This thread is not really about Long Distance riding or max anyone has done in a day, but some very valid points have been mentioned that apply to both LD riding and any long day in the saddle, regardless of what "long" means to each individual. As BigBore4 wisely suggested, time and conditions affect us all differently. A big part of safe long days are learning your body's "tells". These are the little things you notice you do when you are starting to lose focus or get tired enough to make mistakes. Not keeping a steady speed, for example or your mind wandering. Failing to keep good lane discipline. Learn the things that are warning signs for YOU and listen to your body. Stop when you need to, even if you have to stop for 20 minutes just to get the next 5 miles to that hotel you want.

So many variables! I've had 1000+ mile days that were comfortable and I've had others that at less than 200 I'm beat and ready to pack it in. Heat tears me up and anything above about 80 and I wear down fast.

And for the record, longest day mileage for me is 1240.

Two years ago coming home from Romney with Steve. He wanted to leave at 5:30 am and we were close. It was a Sunday with good weather and we both wanted to work on Monday. Me to save a day of vacation to ride again. Seems like I rolled into the garage about 8:30 after 988 miles. Next morning rode to work on my cruisers softer seat, but I rode.

Planning to do it again this year, BUT in both cases I have Monday off. Lots of rain or something keeping me from running 80 on the slab and motel 6 rents me a room Sunday night.

If I'm on a leisure ride (like, not a rally I mean) I go between 650 and 750 miles typically. This assumes a healthy percentage of freeway. If it's not on the freeway, then it's more towards the lower end of that range usually. This is a nice pace because I can do it day after day after day after day, and it doesn't require rushing through stops, or riding until 4am or whatever.
