Would that work with an after market rear rack , specifically would the after market rack sit flat with the pillion removed

In my book anything will work!! lol
Best bet is to take it apart with the rack you have and see what she looks like.. I'm sure you can make something work.

I'm trying to decide on what rear rack/ luggage system to buy , was looking at the wolfman but if I can just buy 1 instead of 2 might be the way to go

Don't forget to mention... if you install the Hand Grips and the Lowered Rear Rack at the same time, they will touch each other. You can raise the rear rack or space the hand grips out or grind a bit of the rear rack for clearance or turn the hand grips up-side-down.

Yeah, that caught me by surprise when I did mine. In our video we had one of the pre-USA bikes that Yamaha was letting dealers display back in January, 2011. I had no problem with the hand holds touching the rack on that bike, but when I got my USA spec one in July, 2011, I had to do a very slight dremel job on the corners of the rack.

I did the Dremel relief on mine when I lowered it. Now that I have removed the grab handles, I'm potentially looking for a larger aftermarket rack that can mount low. So far, it seems only the Altrider and Wolfman racks can do this...

I think I might remove my rear seat and try the larger loading platform for my annual ride this year. I never ride two-up so the extra space would be welcome.

I can try to answer your question around different sizes only to say that it depends on what those bolts are doing - the 8mm side rails need to have stronger bolts because you'll be pulling and lifting on those side rails.

If the bolts are just holding something down in place and the design of the platform aids in that process, then you can get away with smaller bolts or caps screws.

I used to hate when they changed or went to a different bolt requiring me to buy a new tool.....of course no one carried it right away but the most expensive dealers. ???

Thanks for the reminder vids guys.
