Hi there! Yesterday, after couple of years of test-rides and hesitations, I paid for new 2018 ST Raid Edition. It will arrive in few weeks, but, as the riding season is already over, it will be waiting at the dealer's stable until spring.
I've been a FJR1300 AS guy for 9 years and love that bike. But life is short and I have been lurking for the adventure bike the last 2-3 years. I did have the Vstrom 650 for couple of years, but it did not have traction control and cruise and also it was too weak for 2-up and long trips. So I sold it and tested all the major bigger adventure bikes during the last 1,5 years: KTM 1290 Superadventure, Ducati Multistrada, BMW 1200 GS/Adventure, Triumph 1200 XRT, Yammi ST. Out of them I loved both ST and Triumph. Have read so much about troubles with Trimph and lousy service at dealers that I did not dare to take the risk of beeng stranded somewhere in the middle of nowhere while the bike has a complete black-out, or having the bike at dealres for repairs that takes months to do.
Yamaha, in the other hand, has served me extremely well on FJR during the last 9 y and 75 000 km and they have a very capable dealer here. So, in the end it was an easy decision.
Will post the pics here once the bike arrives and then next season I will be more than happy to share my riding experience with you, guys. Meanwhile you can take a look at my current ride.
