ES front shocks not rising

Hi all, returning to motorcycling and joined this forum a couple of months ago.
Now own a 2015 yellow beastie.
When I adjust the settings from solo rider to 2 up, etc., the rear raises but the front does not.
Are the front shocks supposed to rise when preload is adjusted in this way?
My mates 2015 non-ES front shock has approx 10+mm more travel than mine (measured while on side stand).
I only got the bike last week and so are still learning it. Not being an experienced rider it will take me some time to notice if there is any difference in the front shock action irrespective of ride height - so if someone out there could tell me yes or no, re' shocks rising, that would be a great start
Cheers

The forks will not rise. They control the rebound/dampening. The rear shocks rise for preload. Show us some pictures, the only yellow one(s) I've seen are the '16, 60th Anniversary Edition.

Is it another one of those posts do you think

Doesn’t seem to be.

Welcome aboard Philtoni! It does help to include your location in your profile, as there are variations in the bikes depending on where in the world you are. Here in the US, for example, the yellow 60th anniversary editions were not offered with the ES option. This is a great group for this bike, but we have been getting some unusual spam lately, so you may see some skepticism as you continue to contribute to the board

ES only adjusts preload (ride height) on the rear shock. Damping is adjusted both front and rear when changing settings, but no preload changes at the front. There’s a somewhat confusing graph in the owners manual that describes the changes between settings.

No idea why your front travel would be different. It should be 7.5” for all models. How are you measuring this? It’d be pretty hard to measure the suspension at full compression without removing the springs.

Can you use a ratchet strap without damaging anything?

I suppose, the suspension is designed to use all that travel. I would t want to leave it like that for long though.

Your friends ride height(chrome showing) on the forks may be different because he has preload adjustment on his forks. Maybe he has a lot of preload setup on his forks.
If he was to turn the preload all the way out you would see his forks sit a bit lower. With all the preload put into his forks they would sit a bit higher.
Both the ES and non es have the same travel. You are looking for a problem that does not exist.

Excellent! She may be registered as a '15, but the actual model year is '16. Maybe that's why nobody else in the world has the 60th Anniversary in ES. . . . they were all sent "down under".
