Yes. They're offering me a BTZ14S in a "BS" brand ( French, they say), at less than half the price of Yuasa. I'm choosing among those both...any advice ?

Thanks guys much appreciated. Cant understand how mine got put around the other way. Anyhow the panel should be easier to get off and on now. I just don't like pulling wiring around when its been sitting in a position for a good while as it could cause problems.
Is the battery that's in there a YTZ14S or YTZ12S (or equivalent) size? the only reason I can think someone would mount the battery that way is if it was not the OEM battery and just would not fit in the standard orientation. Either that or the person installing it forgot, or had never seen, the OEM orientation.

Thank you. Now the question is. . . . go "generic" at less than half the price? (but, possibly twice the problems) Or, stick with a know quantity/quality.
I got an equivalent one from a local battery shop and its been flawless. Next time ill go lithium and save 6-7lbs.

I would go with the yuasa 14, mainly because i have got very bad experiences with French made products. But if you can afford it go with the Lithium-ion. Like I have posted in the very beginning of this thread. All the deference’s s about the 12, the 14 and a Li-ion are mentioned there.

Stefan, I'll follow your advice and go for the lithium battery. But I've a slow overnight black&decker charger and a fast initiator for fully discharged conventional battery. Could them be used on the lithium ion batt?

I have charged my lithium 2 times with a normal charger and ain’t experiencing any problems. So shouldn’t be a problem.

Although they do make a different charger for the wet and dry batteries. I'd recommend getting a maintainer made for the lithium. The lithium hold a charge longer than the wet cell, a seasonal maintenance may not be needed unless you're prone to leaving your key on.
