Help please.
Bike 2018 ZE model with 1100 miles on the clock
As above, the engine warning light stays on, but the bike runs fine and everything works as it should. Have done a 70 mile ride but no change.

I was adding some aux lights and worked on the bike with it on the centre stand and started it several times...so the rear wheel may have rotated ?? Have disconnected the lights but no change.

One wire was taken form the side light to feed a set of angel eyes and another wire from the main beam feed for a pair of low power spots.

There are no error codes showing anywhere and all the fuses are OK. My dealer is 70 miles away and have booked in for a diagnostic check Friday morning........BUT....I have to leave Tuesday morning to catch the ferry to Spain.

Anyone any suggestions in the meantime.

Thanks

I suggest you disconnect your new lights for now & check for Fault codes using the bike's diagnostics menu ......
....... https://www.motorcycle-manual.com/yamaha-fault-codes/

I don't imagine the angel eyes pull much current? but the spots shouldn't be wired out of the main beam circuit, without a relay. Yamaha already provide a power source for these, a 3 pin plug up behind the tool roll under the right hand panel. Just use search if you can't locate this.

Just keep us posted with the diagnostics result. Happy hunting.

Thanks for the reply, the lights are already disconnected.

Will have a look through your link.
Hopefully it makes sense; some elements get, shall we say, an interesting translation. It's important not to confuse error codes, with fault codes you get via the diagnostics menu.

Can you mod electric suspension?...+3....-3??
I am not quite sure what you mean? The ES system is described fully in the owner's manual; pages 3-37 to 3-41 in my UK version.

I am not aware of any mods being available to the ES system, beyond a spring change.

in contact, you can choose between soft / std / hard .... if you keep the button pressed in any of these, regulates -3 +3 ..... and with the engine on, you will see another menu: helmet, helmet + luggage, helmet + helmet. DID YOU ROTATE THE REAR WHEEL WITH A GEARED GEAR, on the center stand?

Just checked the suspension, I can change damping but the preload will not show on the dash with the menu button.

I did not put the bike in gear when on the centre stand.

is an error code, which can not be deleted from the dash in 2018. In my case, I happened to want to deactivate the abs with the center stand, turning the wheel with the first gear, the check ligth on and disappeared the menu to regulate the suspension. look in all forums, and I found someone who had the same thing happened (light check + disappearance electric suspension of the dash) .... try to delete it with a common scaner, it did not turn out, I went to the technical ss, I delete the code from error of the abs sensor (the one on the back turned, the one on the front did not) .... and the suspension menu appeared again on the board and check ligth off

My problem sounds just like yours, I did start the bike on the centre stand but in neutral, so the back wheel should not have turned...but I know that the gearbox oil can sometimes make the wheel turn. I was not looking at the rear wheel so do not know if it turned or not.

Thanks for the reply, I will update when I have more info.

I have a 2019 Tracer 900 GT and the same thing will happen. If the engine is idling with the bike on the centre stand the rear wheel turns even in neutral and that turns on the the engine light. Since 2017 this light can be turned off only with an OBD2 scanner with proper harness for Yamaha.

not allow to regulate the electronic suspension, it is like a punishment by Yamaha, because otherwise, we would continue disconnecting the abs with the central stand, since the only problem would be to ride with the light of the check turned on. I was 4 months with the light of the check turned on, while I found out what the problem was ( say to me a R1 2017owner with the same problem by try clean rear wheel). I could not find, someone with an S10 2017/2018, who has put a abs switch off, to see what happened with the light of the check.

Just pull the ABS fuse and go for a ride to see what happens. That is all the switch does.

:):):).....so it's easy You tell me to pull abs fuse, because you already did it and nothing happened (S10 2018) ... or for me to try first and tell what happened? The problem is can’t erase error with dash buttons.

SUCCESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was up at six this morning to get to the dealer (JT's in Swansea) in plenty of time for their nine o'clock opening, it was a great early morning ride which I do not normally do that early.
The mechanic plugged the bike in and found several errors but they all cleared and everything is now back to normal. He and I are unsure of why they occurred but he did say that this generation of bike needs a computer to read and clear the codes, it is not possible to do this from the bikes dash and they will not reset themselves either.

Further reading on the matter indicates that a OBD2 scanner should be able to read and clear the codes, so I will invest in one of these after my trip and also take it on future trips but there is not enough time to do this for my upcoming departure date.

Thanks for all the replies....we live and learn...and hopefully become a little wiser ??

Glad your mechanic cleared the codes and nothing popped back up. For the future for all the new folks joining since it is Spring:

Search the forum first. Even the Gen2 bikes are now in their 6th year so just about everything that could be confusing or done wrong, has been. Not saying that you didn't, just a reminder as a moderator. ;)

Would it be worth having a sticky somewhere about clearing codes as it seems from my (limited) knowledge that the Gen 1 , Gen 2 and the recent Gen 2 are all different, maybe the current model should be a Gen 2.5 ?
