The second Tenere was used with 2500 miles.
Somtehing could had happend during the first 2500mi? I think Yamaha are solid rock engines, hard to belive it was a build issue! (it could happend but hard to belive!), why was sold after 2500mi? and it had the noice since he got it? of course having metal like shown in the picture is recent, but damage was done before!!.
Great outside looking replacement engine, inner components?
I work in GM and did engine calibration for the 2.8 v-6 engines (did transition from Carb to MPFI) and most engine hadware was the same, except for sensor and actuators, but base engine same, I will assume that in the Yamaha engine could be similar, will be good to see how the story will end up. Great job, it will be very fun to do it.
Tabaso you will revive that bike!, looking forward for a great ending job!

How many miles on the failed engine ? Had that Happen to a farm tractor that we bought brandnew, it wasn’t right from the start and at 2,000 hours a connecting rod broke, they did give a nice discount on a brandnew engine but it still costed plenty For what was most likely a factory defect.

I agree, but total speculation on my part. Who know what the heck happened. It’s the ONLY one in the world as far as I know.
We will get it going and get him back out riding real quick !!! Thank you

17K and some change I believe. Just out of warranty. That was the very first thing I suggested to him, call and see if it happens to have an extended warranty. He did, it doesn’t.
We should have him up and going real quick !
Thanks !

Let us know if it swaps over or if theirs any issue. Would be nice to have this option in event of a failure or wreck
