I have to agree with the Snake,
I have the AVC flash, a PC5, Arrow headers, and Akropovic exhaust,
The bike certainly gains much with every mod you do, it just gets better and better!

Don't you wish just ONE of the bike-rags that have done the Big Pig ADV comparos, would have gotten a Tenere that runs like yours?
It still wouldn't ever be declared the winner, for all the same reasons it hasn't. But I guarantee the typical insults about the "power delivery" being boring, uninspiring, ...etc

Well, let's just say it's very possible to give that sweeeet reliable gentleman's engine a real dose of attitude.

I just had my ECU redone (by Anthony, AVC8310) and my first impressions are like yours, BadNews, especially how much easier and more readily the bike pulls away from a dead stop in T mode. I was told by many how night and day the bike would be afterward, but this is really something. Now it's easy to understand why some who have gone from a First Gen to a Second Gen bike think it's that much more powerful. Yamaha only bumped total power output by ~ 1-2hp, but they loosened up the restrictive ECU settings, similar to what we have now accomplished.
Actually, dyno testing by several mags, including Motorcycle Consumer News showed that the 2014 gained a bit over 8 HP at the wheel vs the gen 1.

Badnews, you're full of good news! :)

It's sweet, ain't it?

But I got some bad news for ya. Lol
Those headers are worth it! (my opinion)
For more of the same reason the flash was.
The bike just keeps getting better with each step of "unleashing" its potential.
Don't tempt me, I just got the credit card paid off!

Ok. I won't.

You aren't actually required to finish what you started.
I mean, no reason to eat the whole steak. ::013::

Oh! Nice bait!

OK, OK, I admit I WANT the headers and can (and another Flash to match) but do I really need it? Nah, not right now. Maybe later. Still sorting out my windscreen and seat. After that, we'll see. Also, I've never been to any kind of a rally, so I'm kinda thinking maybe it'll be Romney.

Now back to my NFC North football game...

Finally got a decent day to take my ECUnleashed flashed YST for a ride. It was all on road, so these are just my observations for that; I went maybe 50 miles. I have the stock exhaust system, no mods.
First up, Tour Mode: They definitely changed Tour mode, unlike what the sales rep claimed. I found Tour mode much easier to ride around town. At lower revs and in lower gears, it is way better. Much smoother throttle response, no snatchy throttle anymore. Once you get the revs up in Tour mode, there is more power than before, or better response, or it just wakes up more than before. Not sure how to describe it, but overall, I like it. Still cool, calm, and collected at the lower RPM's and gears, but with more get up and go when you get the revs up. Engine braking is diminished, but not gone.
Sport Mode: OK, now it is starting to remind me of my FJR in Sport mode! Once again, smooth throttle response. But no waiting for the revs to get up for the motor to come alive, it's on right now. Engine braking is similar to Tour mode.
In both modes I noticed that the engine lugged better at lower RPM's, didn't have to downshift as much. It also pulled away from stop lights better. Engine starts quicker, revs quicker, runs smoother. I like it. I was thinking of getting the Arrow headers and a can, but now maybe not.

Now that I have some serious miles on this ECUnleashed flash, I am going to modify what I stated above. I believe some of my enthusiasm for "Tour" mode may have been the excitement of "I paid good money for this flash, it must be awesome!". After racking up some more miles, I am going to go with what ECUnleashed originally told me in our email communications: They don't touch Tour mode on a stock bike. However, since about the 4,000 mile mark, Tour mode is beginning to smooth out a bit, I believe it is more a 'breaking in' thing, though.
My Sport mode observations made above still hold true.
Overall, if I had to do it again, I would wait until I had 6 to 8 K miles (well broke in) before deciding whether or not to flash a stock bike. It's getting better with every ride, and I'm not sure flashing a stock bike is necessary once it is thoroughly broke in.
Mea culpa :( Hope this helps some new owners.

I can't comment about ecu-unleashed, but off road with the avc8130 standard reflash is perfect. I use T-mode with traction control off for technical, single track, 1st gear stuff. Power delivery is very smooth. I can jump a log if need be. Slower than 1st gear with clutch work, no problem. Gravel roads in T-mode with traction control 2 is great. Rear slides just enough, I don't even feel the traction control. But know it's working cause the lights flashing. If any of this kind of riding sounds like what you like to do. Get a reflash. I recommend avc8130.

HI, is AVC8130 still doing Re-flashes? I’ve tried to contact, but no avail. I’m in South Carolina, any recommendations? Thank you.

Apparently he’s vanished! Somebody on this forum must know what he’s doing.
