Hi Team,

This is my review of my recent dealings with Eastern Beaver Connections. This is my personal opinion only and I wish I had known before dealing with them and hence why I pass on MY experience.

I ordered the PC8 panel with powerlink connection for jumper cables. I ordered the wrong jumper cables and got one with a female connection that cannot be used. EBC customer service was very slow and not at all helpful except to remind me several times it was my fault. No offers to assist at cost price or anything just arrogant replies confirming my mistake.

When I asked about returning items for refund under their warranty clause I was told no because that have to be unopened and not fitted to the vehicle.

I tried to negotiate exchange parts but equally unhelpful.

With regards to product quality, it is probaly fair but not what I expected.

The service is slow by standards we now expect and pre and post customer service was rude and arrogant.

I'm sure plenty will tell me why I am wrong but this was my experience.

I don't think you're wrong, since your experience is your experience, but this might be the first time I've ever heard someone have a problem with Eastern Beaver, and there a lot of members on motorcycle forums that use their products.

No one was more surprised than me. It was ultimately my mistake but they were just so arrogant about it and so unwilling to help. I consider myself a fair person and I guess I expected some assistance even just some helpful direction and some nice words but instead I got "it's your fault", pay for a new one.

In the world of electrical components, returns for anything other than full defective products are pretty un-heard of. Sucks, but that's normal. They can't re-sell it, don't know if the customer fried it or otherwise damaged the item and you certainly wouldn't want someone's returned items at full retail price. If it was NIB and fully sealed, maaaaybe a vendor would accept it back.

So in the end, you ordered the wrong item and installed it before realizing that. (from what I understand) That's a bitch and I feel for you. Not sure what you asked EB for, but in the end, you own what you purchased. Order what you need and put the other item on ebay and hopefully you get some of your funds back that way. There isn't any reason presented for them to discount the item you need or refund any part of your previous order. You ordered it, they shipped it. No error on their part was made from what you have indicated.

EB is one guy. It's not a big business with multiple employees. I'm very sure he has had people get pissy about something and try to get a refund. As I said above, normal business practice in the electrical world is no refunds unless they shipped you the wrong item or it was defective, so everything else comes down to "order what you need, you own the mis-ordered item(s)".

The only items ordered wrong was the powerlink jumper cable. It needs to have a male connection to work but for some reason they also have a female version on their website. I was happy to accept that I got it wrong but I didn't expect their reaction (yes he has other staff) when I asked why it don't fit. It appeared that they couldn't care about my issue. Not a nice way to run a business and keep customers happy. Just arrogant.

Hi there Squarebore, I would recommend to cut your losses and order up one of these:

https://www.neutrinoblackbox.com/products

In another members words (twinrider), buy once cry once. The install is pretty simple and it takes up about the same room as a pack of cards. Another great feature is the built in relay. If you decide to use a relay already included with your electrical products, no problem. There is no need to protect the Neutrino from back current/voltage by installing a diode at the terminal being used for this device. This latest generation has built in back current protection. It's a brilliant box with a bunch of options.

My review here:

Oh, and this name might not mean anything to anyone, but this years Iron Butt Rally winner Wendy Crockett runs the same device on her FJR's winning bike. So it's already a proven reliable device for extreme harsh conditions and many miles.

Hi Chris, thanks for the information. I'll have a look at the site and your review. Cheers

Yeah, no reason to be rude. I didn't realize you were unaware that both were options when you ordered. It's not the best web site, the way it's organized. I always had to search for a bit to find exactly what I needed.

...Had to pick it up from the post office. They were within a cats hair of sending my order back to Japan...
My order with EB actually did get returned to Japan for some unexplained reason. This was only advised to me after numerous inquiries why delivery was do delayed (~6 weeks). I got the canned responses that it was in transit and to be patient when they had it back all along prior to my first inquiry. Then the kicker, they wanted me to pay shipping charges again for redelivery. I put my foot down, address I supplied was 100% correct, they picked the carrier so they were responsible. After some whining they finally reshipped on their dime. Definitely not a customer service based company. Shame since their products are all top notch.

I just got a response from Dave at EBC basically saying that the "unconditional guarantee" needed to be fixed with many other things on the website.

Sorry to hear about your trouble, squarebore. I did order the fusebox and connection cables from EB this winter, it arrived in reasonable time and the quality was very good indeed, easy to install. No problems whatsoever

Hi everyone...this is Dave form EB....I know its an old thread but I wanted to appologies for anythng I may have said to make folks feel the way Squarebore does.
Its still basically one dude...me...doing it all...Jim has taken more of a back seat as his hand doesnt let him crimp so much these days.
I am doing my best to help Jim and sometimes things fall through the cracks....I agreee that the Web-site needs to be upgraded....trying to talk Jim into it.
As far as shipping goes...we are in Japan so we can get the parts as cheap as possible...and pass the savings on to our customers....but shipping from here can be a bit of a pain...sorry.
For the record I am NEVER rude....my Mom raised me better than that....but I may have to say things that folks dont want to hear...its kinda my job and I try to be as polite as I possibly can.
Anyways...just wanted to say sorry and that I will try and do better with the customer service....Ride hard, ride safe...Dave for EB

I’ve also had issues actually receiving the item I ordered. In summary, order placed on the 7th of May, shipped on the 13th of May and still hasn’t arrived (as of the 14th June). I’m in the UK and wondered if anyone else in the UK has ordered something from EB and if so how long delivery took.

I’ve had the Neutrino Black Box fitted to my ‘15 ES since new, so 5-years use with no issues. I can attest to the reliability.

I have had mine for almost 3 years. When I switched it over to the Super Ten I had some issues with getting the Neutrino to reconnect to my cell phone. I sent an email off at 11:30 pm with a question and the owner responded within 20 minutes. Now that is some great customer service. I couldn't be happier with the product or the features. Another great thing is that it is controlled by software through the app on your phone. Any time they add a new feature, they just update the app and you have it.

Yeah, Dan is pretty responsive. I haven’t seen an app update in a while though.

$250 for a fuse? I know it does a whole lot more, but seriously, once you've set it do you ever go and adjust it again? It looks like a classic case of over-specification to me. There is a guy on the UK vstrom forum who custom makes a switched 4 circuit fuse board and he charges £30 for it. That makes more sense surely?
