Re: Dual exhaust line fot the ST. 1rst Prototype

Today I did my first test. It works great, the bike changes completely. The Touring mode is like the Sport, and the Sport is… AMAZING. The engine “breathes” free, (it still have the catalyser), it sounds a bit loud but not terrible (nice sound). Next week I’m going to have the dbkillers and see how it works.
After a short ride in road I went to a track with lots of jumps, as you ca see the bash plate suffers some scratches when the suspension was full compressed and touch the ground (I realized the plate doesn’t cover properly the catalyser, need to do something with the new pipe). I need to try the same jumps with a new tire to see if it touches the pipes, but don’t think so.
In dirt, with this exhaust the Touring mode is perfect. The Sport is very exiting but dangerous in dry sandy slippery soil like I did today…
I had a little fall with no consequences, when arrived home I laid down the bike to see if the exhaust touches the ground. As you can see in the photos one side is closer to the soil than the other and with the pillion pegs probably is ok. Even so I would like to try to put them closer to the tail’s bike. I'm pleased with the Touratech bars, they protect well.
I burnt my pant in the left leg, It needs urgently some covers to avoid that.
Panniers, I don’t know. I’m not interested in panniers but when the exhaust is finished we’ll see if there are some who fit.
Work in progress….

Jamie awesome job your bike looks great. Wasn't sure about the cans with the shape at first but they are growing on me. Sounds really nice thanks for sharing with the group.

Re: Dual exhaust line fot the ST. 1rst Prototype

Hi again!
I received the results comparing the stock exhaust and the None. In the graphic you can see there is a 3HP gain comparing the stock (green line) and 5HP without the DBkillers (red). But more important, the power is more constant.

In this graphic is the stock (blue), the Akrapovich (red) and the None (green) without DBkillers.

The weight of the two bafflers and dual pipes are 5,9kg
Stock: 5,8kg
Akrapovich: 4,0 aprox.

Next week they are going to work with the header pipes. They are using a very thin stainless steel so they are pretty sure to reduce some weight and improve performance.

Looks cool! What about the blinkers? Did you melt them off? ::025::
He has LED ones that tuck in tighter than the stock ones.

Nice look, let us know how the heat is w/o the cover, and on both sides.

I’m pleased that you like it!
Yes the blinkers are the led ones, but I would try to put the bufflers closer to the bike so probably I need to move the blinkers to a different position. We’ll see next week.
I have my next off road trip at the end of april and everything must be ready. We had to work hard!! (I’m having a great time!! ::008::)

I like the new exhaust sound, is not too loud and with the helmet and running its ok for me. It’s similar to the GS sound with an Akrapovich.
But I want to reduce’ it because I don’t like to disturb to the rest of people. I hope next week they give me the db killers and see how it works.

Re: Dual exhaust line fot the ST. 1rst Prototype

We did a good off road test yesterday: 5 BMW GS1200, 1 KTM Superenduro, 1 GS800 and 2 Yamaha Supertenere. I am more and more convinced this bike is the one I need, it’s great!! Only the KTM and the GS800 could be serious contenders in off road, the GS1200 where far away….

The exhaust works very well and we realise the bike works cooler than with the OEM. In mine, the vent worked much less than in the other bike. Good in hot countries like mine!!

Do you have any heat problems with your ST in hot weather?

This bike flyes....

Today I picked up the bike from None, the exhaust factory. I’m impressed. Still a hand made prototype to test but it looks great… and it sounds better!!
With the DBkillers the sound is similar to an Akrapovich. Without is louder but not too much, lovely music!!
They use titanium in the baffles and a very thin stainless steel in the pipes. The two baffles and the dual pipes are the same weight than the stock but better distribute. I can take off all the plastic cover, food pegs, etc.
Hope to do a proper test this weekend.

I liked finish a lot and of the colors of the exhaust. Great look!!! The only critic so your job is: to appear a part of the pipe of the exhaust in the lateral left of the motorcycle :'( (last picture). Congratulations! ::003::

Yeah, you’re right.
The problem is: these guys want to keep this big size pipe. They say is the better way to improve the power.
Even so it’s not finished yet, next wednesday I’m going to collect the bike and see what they did: heat protections, narrower ending, perhaps this you mentioned… we’ll see. ::008::

Re: Dual exhaust line fot the ST

None, the exhaust manufacturer, where working this week in my bike. They improve some aspects to continuing the test. All is provisional.
They put some heat protections, change the supports (now they can be used to tie the luggage or lift the bike), put some db killers, and put them closer to the bike.

With the db killers the noise level is similar to the OEM exhaust, just a bit louder and better “quality music"… and the bike works excellent.

Now we can put the OEM panniers.

Heat protections, we need some more...

The exhaust are narrower.
Before

Now. I hope Heyder like it ::008::

Today I did a “extreme” off road ride, very muddy… this bike is amazing much, much better than my old GSA. I love it!!
Tomorrow is cleaning time!!

Re: Dual exhaust line fot the ST. Evo 2

I like the second edition much more than the first. I would like to see a larger heat shield, to stop an accident from burning my pants or leg..

It looks like the right can is not exactly the same as the left.
Other than that, I really like the pipes. Looks very nice. ::012:: ::008::

You're right.
This is just the prototype to do all the tests. Work is in progress….
In the photo with the panniers we put the OEM bars to attach the panniers instead the pipes supports so they weren’t fixed properly.
