I have to admit the smartass in me wants to come jumping out here, but I'll just say good idea on painting arrows on the rim...……………...paint them in the correct direction the first time. ;)

I've had dealers install the tires backward for me but so far I've avoided doing it myself, which raises a question. Why is it that when I am mounting a new tire, the arrow is invariably on the other side from where I'm working? Same goes for the dot you're supposed to place next to the valve stem... Why don't tire manufacturers place the dot and the arrow on both sides?

I use a similar principle - Before removing the old tire I stick a piece of masking tape on the rim with an arrow drawn in ink. Once the tire is on the masking tape comes off.

Mounted a front tire backwards on my Goldwing many years ago, didn’t notice it until a couple thousand miles later in Texas so I kept riding it like that until I got home again, had about 5,000 miles on it when I turned it around, really couldn’t notice any difference while riding it either way but I never made that mistake again.

I put a pain in the ass water pump on my Mach1. Forgot the gasket. AC, powersteering pump, belts and radiator had to come back off. Never drink beer with the boys and mechanic.

Warming tires in colder temps? I either put it in a car by the window if it's sunny, or set it in front of a radiant type heater for a bit, switching sides as it warms up.

Reminded me when I mounted a radiator in my Plymouth Valiant. Did everything but bolt it in. First bump I hit the fan blades ripped into it. Never drink malt liquor and wrench!!
