I have a question I can’t find a definitive answer to By doing a search. I have a 2017 ES and wondering if anyone has found a diagnostic scanner other than Snap On or OEM that will work on the gen 2 bikes. I looked on line and found OBD2 connectors for the yamaha motorcycles but there is also a note that it will not work on the Super Tenere.

I found a couple scanners on line from China, I know, CHINA, but most of the ones you find for a reasonable cost for cars are made in China too and work fine, I have 3. The one I am looking at for the S10 is the OBDEMOTO 600. Is says it will scan and clear codes, adjust CO and Idle as well as other things. I talked to the manufacture and asked if it would work on the S10 and he assured me it would. I’m willing to buy it and wondering if anyone else has knowledge if it or has tried it. I have found others on other Yamaha forums that have found automotive scanners to scan Yamahas and clear codes but not for the S10. This unit is purchased for specific bikes, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki etc.and comes with the required connectors to hook to the bike, the cable that comes with the Yamaha specific scanner appeared to be a match to the diagnostic plug on my bike, and I am talking about the diagnostic connection behind the right side cover in the fuse box area, not the one under the seat for the ABS diagnostics even though they look to be the same type plug.

I would appreciate any feedback, tks. Jeff.

I highly doubt it will work. I have a $2500 snap on scanner with 2018 software, and a 2018 Launch scanner, bought a cable to hook up that works on other Yamahas, but neither scanner would work. All prior posts of hooking up code readers/scanners that had success were from European models.
Yamaha won't sell their factory reader to owners. Only dealers can buy. I think we are stuck with the built in diagnostics.

Tks. Ron, that is what I was worried about, I haven’t been able to find one that would work either, I believe the vendor thinks if it will work on one bike it will work on all.
