Dempster, Dalton ,Denali That is the plan for the next 24 days.

The new Super Tenere will be here waiting for me when I get home. My dealer told me today that it is in Chicago 300 miles away today and there is nothing I can do to get it here. I’ll write a ride report when I get home but not being on my Tenere I doubt if I read it myself. Landon has a SPOT and I’ll post the web site here . I hope to post a picture on here when I get a chance to. I would like to ride with some of them Tenere riders in Whitehorse up the South Canal when we get there. Have fun riding your new Tenere’s guys, only a week away. http://www.spotadventures.com/user/profile/?user_id=74688
This story starts back when I first heard about the Super Tenere coming to this country. I told my son and a friend, Troy, that if I order one of these things we are going to Alaska. Well, a couple weeks had gone by and they had both bought adventure bikes, so I was committed to ordering the Super Tenere. Then a couple weeks later I stopped by Landon's house on the way to Iowa City and told him 3 of us were going to Alaska on bikes. A short time later he calls me up and asks is this really going to happen. I said well I don't have a bike yet but we are going to go, Troy and Eric have already bought adventure bikes. Landon ended up buying a 650 Wee and said he is in on for the ride. Well, as the story goes time is getting closer and Yamaha was saying November delivery so I had to come up with a bike. I bought a 650 Wee with less than 10,000 miles on it and thought it was a great bike until I test rode the Super Tenere in Kansas City. WOW!!! now that is an adventure bike. About 3 weeks ago Troy threw a chain on his Vstrom and totalled the cases. Within a week he had another Vstrom and has it all ready to go. I think it is white but I haven't even seen his new bike.

Landon, Troy, and Scott (Scott is Troy's 12 year old son) left this afternoon and according to Landon's SPOT they are getting close to the Minnesota border. When Eric gets off work in a little while him and I are going to start the chase and try to run them down within the next 2 days. Troy says he is going to ride casually, yeah right. Troy is wide open all the time. So this is the start of the 2011 Alaska Ride for 5 friends on 4 bikes.

This is Eric's bike [My son]

This is the bike I'll be on for the trip.

Well here it is 2:30 Thursday morning and we haven't left home yet. Eric had to work late so we didn't get taken off last night. My XT is due to come into the dealer Friday. That means after 8 months of waiting for this bike to ride on this trip I am missing it by 1 day. Anyway, Troy, Scott, and Landon are about 500 miles ahead of us so we better get the wheels a spinning. By the way did I mention I am the luckiest guy in the world. I have the 2 nicest kids you could possibly have. They go everywhere with me, except Joey stoled Emily's heart away (luckily only 40 miles away). They have been my 2 best friends next to Michelle and Eric still wants to go with me everywhere I go. Michelle is not going because of too many bears and she doesn't like the Wee, so next year we will be on the Tenere.

Hello everyone, This is Michelle (Steve's wife). Just wanted to give an update. The guys left Thursday morning about 3:00 a.m. If you are following their Spot they hit Dawson Creek this morning and are headed to Watson's Lake. Finally getting off the interstates and into some scenic country. I just called the Yamaha dealer this morning and Steve's Super T was delivered there Friday morning, Of course 1 day after they took off on their trip. ::) Guess I'll have to give him that news the next time he checks in. Anyway, it will be waiting for him when he gets back. Can't wait to uncrate it and go for a ride!!!!

Hey, If any of the Yukon Tenere crew is watching the spot track these guys will be hitting the south canol some time tomorrow. I will be watching their progress tomorrow and heading ndown to the South Canol to say hello. I am about an hour away from the start of the Canol. They are currently off the highway at Smith River, I am sure they are setting up camp. Probably 5 hours from the Canol. 8)

Just wanted to let anyone know that is watching this trip with the Spot that Steve, my son, and Troy and his son are no longer riding with Landon who has the Spot. When they got up this morning Landon wanted to ride a more leisurely day to Whitehorse. I don't know if they will catch back up together or not, I hope so as it has been fun watching their progress, But anyway just wanted to let everyone know. If by chance they do find each other again I'll let you know. I believe the guys were thinking about riding the Dempster highway to Inuvik so I presume that is the direction they will head after the South Canal. Thanks, Michelle

Hooked up with Steve and crew in Teslin Yukon. These guys are movin ???rolled out of Teslin doing about 60 over the limit  headed for Johnson's Crossing and the South Canol. These fellows are serious mile munchers. Rode up the South Canol a ways with them and then turned around and headed home. Great bunch, wish I could have continued on with them... would have been tons of fun 8)

We went up the Dempster and Troy had been complaning about his rear shock I said I need my Tenere he said they cost to much.. We road the first half to Eagle Plains through 3 rain storms and it took Eric 3 hours 15 min. It took me 4 hours 15 but I had to plug a rear tire The first half is a breeze The real Dempster starts at the Nouth West territory boarder.

From the NWT boarder up the road is just stupped We [ Troy Scott Eric and I] made it to Inuvik I took off early to head back because it's just grulling. Troy caught us at the Mackenzee river fairy but was to late to get on that's the last we ever seen him. We camped at Eagle plains and in the middle of the night we hierd he had goen down hard and broke his arm in 2 places Scott is fine They had to fly out and donate the bike to the Natives. I wander if he still thinks a Tenere cost too much You get what you pay for lets see 14,ooo for a Tenere Air Evak from Inuvik ????? They are do home tonight at 2 in the morning

Ok so we are trying this again. Yesterday we were on the Top of the World road. We found a jeep road and took off on it. We had to leave Landon. We found the old Top of the World trails and rode them for hours. It was great. We came upon the biggest moose I have ever seen. We thought it was a wooly mammoth. I thought I was going to have to scrape the crap off Eric's helmet because he about rear ended it. We finally left Top of the World road found Landon at the Poker Creek border crossing. I talked him into not waiting around for us any more and just exploring and having fun enjoying the scenery because we wanted to just take off on any trail we came across, its just in our blood. I'll send pics and a story when I get home but you have to remember I have 2 beauties waiting for me at home, one is soft and cuddly and the other is tough and blue. Steve

This is not my picture, I could not get out my camera because the trail was just too rough. But I think this is a picture of his little brother.
