Two guys are standouts;

Not just because of great prices and service and having Tenere's on their floor. Not just because they are great folks to deal with. And, not even because they either ride dual-purpose bikes themselves (Mark at Lee's) or are committed to learning about them...but because these two dealerships go out of their way to support our community.

In Eastern West Virgina, it's Romney Cycles....in central KY, it's Lee's motorcycles at Harrodsburg.

Both dealerships host day or weekend rides, providing free food and in Romney Cycles case, camping, coffee, water and hot showers. Lee's hosts day rides with GPS for dual-purpose runs on gravel and dirt and is planning an all dirt ride. Romney has just finished their 2nd annual Camp n Ride; These are events oriented to our interests hosting us in a way not shown by many other dealerships (including my locals). I just feel these guys should be recognized for their commitment to us and if you are in the market for a bike, worth a call.

Romney will arrange shipping for bikes across the country and has 4 Teneres on the floor (including that new gray number...which is hot).

I have no financial stake in either dealership...I just really appreciate what these two dealers do for us and motorcycling in general. When I'm ready for my next bike, I'll be starting with both dealerships (actually, I'm kind of thinking of adding a 250 or 400 to the stable).

My favorite dealers in the Great State of Texas are, in no particular order...

- C.C. Cycle Plaza - Corpus Christi, TX - Yamaha, Kawasaki, & Victory - http://www.cccycleplaza.com/
- Lunsford's Northwest Honda - Houston, TX - Honda & Ducati - http://lunsfordshonda.com/
- AF-1 Racing - New Braunfels, TX - Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio, Vespa - http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/default.asp
- AF-1 Racing - Austin, TX - Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio, Vespa, & Zero Electric - http://www.vespaaustin.com/
- Eurosport Cycle - Ft. Worth, TX - Aprilia, Bimota, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Triumph, & Vespa - http://www.eurosportcycle.com/wp/

Each of these dealers is *EXEMPLARY* in every way. Nice stores. Terrific and knowledgeable staff. Fair dealing. Great service and good pricing. Involved in the community. Regular ride events. Demo days. The whole bit.

And I think I should mention, too... Most of our "Cycle Gear" stores here are pretty good in a pinch. At least the ones I've visited in San Antonio, Austin, and Houston. The I-10 San Antonio one really helped a buddy of mine out with a tire emergency on a Sunday, for instance, and the folks in the 183 store in Austin have always been friendly and helpful.

There are tons of good, small, independent shops around Texas, too... But too many for me to remember or name here.

I have to agree about the cycle gear stores. year ago we were going through Colorado/utah/nevada/arizona
and ran into some troubles with my rear tire on my v-strom 1000 (they were maxxis detours, I installed front and back as new, and the rear was gone within 2000km, not good when the whole trip was about 5-6 thousand km.
Made several calls to dealers in Utah, and Nevada, finally found a cycle gear in vegas that helped me out with a tire, and even set up a guy to show up with a great big 26 foot cargo trailer, pull the old tire off, and install the new one, for next to nothing. Pretty sure it was $10 for the swap.

Great service, would recommend

Just wanted to point out something; there are many good dealers who sell bikes, are nice guys with good prices.

I singled these two guys out because:

"Both dealerships host day or weekend rides, providing free food and in Romney Cycles case, camping, coffee, water and hot showers. Lee's hosts day rides with GPS for dual-purpose runs on gravel and dirt and is planning an all dirt ride. Romney has just finished their 2nd annual Camp n Ride; These are events oriented to our interests hosting us in a way not shown by many other dealerships (including my locals). I just feel these guys should be recognized for their commitment to us and if you are in the market for a bike, worth a call....."

Though having a list of good/bad dealers is fine, I singled these two guys out because they go above and beyond selling/servicing bikes...making sure riders like us have a place to ride...neither dealer is close enough to me to get sales or service dollars, but they both treat me like a best riding buddy.
