I keep mine in the top compartment of my tank bag, its flat and is only covered by a clear plastic panel. Generally works fine.

NOVA, deep in the urban sprawl.
I have never seen drivers rip through toll booths faster than on the Toll road and Greenway. I slow down to 35-40 and will almost get rear ended by someone on a daily basis. Yet when they get to the other side of the toll booths they don't accelerate away and merge back into the highway. ::)

Had a similar event at the Commodore Barry bridge and did actually go around the gate. Honked... no one was there, no one came out. Not sure what cars do in the same situation. I was carrying my ezpass in the chest pocket of my mesh jacket and it works in MD/DE and the NJTP no problem but wouldn't read. Now I purchased the smaller form factor ez pass and have it mounted low on the inside of the windshield and it reads without any problems. Just an eyesore on the front of a beautiful bike.
I hate the Commodore Barry Bridge !! That has to be the WORST kept bridge period.

I've had a toll barrier not go up in my car once... I just drove through it...

There really isn't a reason to create a massive traffic jam - take a picture of my plate, send me a fine no big deal I'll enter my EZ Pass account info on the letter and send it back to you.

A very simple solution would be a speed trap. IF someone goes through too hot give them a big fat ticket and a moving violation.
They've done it in the past. The toll plaza technically has a 10 MPH speed limit. A guy I work with when through there at the flow of traffic just over 30 MPH. He was culled from the crowd and given a wreckless ticket. Went to court, the cop did not have his paperwork right, so it was thrown out.

You do see people pulled over near the toll plaza from time to time. I have never witnessed that have any impact beyond the visual range of the officer. The DC area in general is a miserable place around which to commute. Like anywhere else, you learn the prevailing driving style and adapt. What is normal here would never fly in many other places, and vice versa.

Agreed about seeing the cops regularly pulling people on the downstream sides of the toll booths. But then if you don't go into the toll at 30+ you are going to get rear-ended.

DC area traffic is all about slow people in the fast lane and fast people EVERYWHERE else.

The I pass is great for people that don't use it often. No maintenance fees if set up with a CC. My account has been in good standing since 2010 even though I haven't used it since 2013.
