A first all time with an American, Ricky Brabec won! And 2 more in top 10!

I think to me the best was the guy out of the running so donated his tire to someone still challenging Ricky. He finished the stage on the bare metal rim. Not a Street tire, not 50/50! Not a knobby but a damn metal slick on the sand!

I think what pains me the most is he was better on the rim than I would be on that bike with the tire!

That was Americn rider Andrew Short who gave his tire to Toby Price. I was a bit surprised by that, since Andrew was riding for team Husqvarna while Toby is the lead rider (and previous Dakar winner) for the juggernaut that is team KTM. All part of the spirit that is Dakar.

And don't forget we had TWO US class winners this year! Casey Currie handily won the SxS(SSV) class.

I think the bare rim in sand is better than one of those unsafe Mitas E-07's with the chevron tread pattern. LOL LOL

He had a good front tire to steer. Rear tire is not as important as the front. I have run on just a front rim and it sucks.

Andrew gave up his wheel because he was down on points and knew he could not catch up. Very good sportsmanship. We used to do that in desert racing. If there is a faster rider that needs a part (bent bars, wheel, etc), race ethic dictates that a fellow racer ALWAYS gives up his race to help out the points winner. Anything less is just poor sportsmanship.

I have never heard anyone speak ill of the E-07s.........
I've never "heard" anyone speak ill either. Probably have bumped into 300-400 people using them over the last 4 years. But there is one member on this forum who has never tried one that likes to type ill of them every chance he gets. That's who I was quoting when I posted that.

And coincidentally that member just posted immediately before your post above. LOL
