Hey, everyone I was recently inspired by a build I saw someone locally doing and decided to expound on what he started. I made a new design for a luggage rack that mounts to your existing pannier mounting locations and is also supported by your rear luggage rack three-point mount. This requires you to remove the complete rear luggage rack and plastic cover underneath the rear seat plus grab handles. It sits low, lower than the stock or Altrider racks and can support either two 1 gallon Rotopax or a single 2 gallon pack if your into that sort of non-stop riding or extra insurance. You can absolutely substitute water if you want. I made sure mounting points were still accessible on the perimeter even when Rotopax are installed so you can strap down duffle bags tents or anything else you want to. I do not know if this works with stock bags, I do know it will work with any aftermarket hard or soft bags that utilize a pannier rack. I designed it to work with pannier racks as they give you a little extra spacing between the bags.
Let me know what you think I can add slots or holes as needed but trying to keep it simple and strong. The design is a single piece the brackets are tabbed and slotted to be welded. Material is .25" aluminum, and the rack is stout.
I am prototyping one for myself next week.
