Do you still like the S10? If yes, buy it back as salvage title, then fix it yourself. Money in your pocket, and a cycle you like. Win Win!

This works out, because Thank God you're OK.

I would have to buy back at auction, insurance will not sell back to me directly. This is my second s10 and I've loved both. Ive been on them for 7 yrs now. I think its time for something different. Probably gonna wait for a t7, probably, maybe, I don't know.........

Also would like to hear your thoughts on the difference between the two.

I did not get the dct. Test rode one and thought that's just no fun and a little wrong lol. I only have about 250 miles on it so for. Taking it easy until I get the feel for it. Did take it for a day of dirt Monday. So first its to tall, will have to get the low seat first thing. The 21 inch front wheel was instantly better of road, but much slower on the road. May not be a bad thing to slow down anyway. I'll post up my thoughts as I get into it more. Thanks for the congratulations.

Good move. I sold my Gen I S10 to get an Africa Twin DCT in 2016. Thought the tranny would make my long commute through the city easier. That it did, but for fun riding it rarely shifted when I would have, so I left it in manual mode most of the time.

Lots of problems with that bike. The DCT broke as well as the fuel pump, idle control valve and headlight switch. It also suffered from intermittent stalling, which Honda couldn't fix. Got rid of the bike after Honda told me the stalling was a "characteristic of big twins" and picked up a Gen II S10, which has been trouble free. Hope you have better luck with yours!

Yup, as i mentioned in the post you quoted, I did pick up a Gen II S10 in June 2018 and 30,000 km later I haven't had a single problem with it. Yamaha still builds to standards, not to price.

I hope the Honda is as reliable as the Yamaha. I have a couple riding buddies on the 16 model africa, neither of them have had any issues. The first generation tenere i had, a 12 model, gave me more warranty issues than anything I have ever had. Never left me stranded mostly minor issues. There was just quite a few of them. Good thing is that Yamaha stood behind it and fixed it. Never a question on fixing it just fixed it. The honda bikes I've had in the passed have never gave problems. Hopefully this one won't either. About to d

I hope so too. I had a Gen 1 for 5 years, only issue was the rack recall. Any maker can have a lemon, it's how they address the problems that counts.
