Crash bars for a tall guy

I have a 2015 S10 es and I'm looking for a set of crash bars to provide protection for when I inevitably drop the bike. I'm on the tall side (6'3") and have noticed that pictures of several crash bars extend quite far back on the bike, and look like my knees would hit against them (especially when I sit a little forward in the saddle to change the pressure points on my butt).

Are there any tall guys here who could recommend a set of bars that don't interfere with their knees?

I am 6'4" and currently have the Givi TN355 bars on my '16 ST. With the seat in the high position, there is at least six inches between my knee and the closet part of the bar.

I purchased them from an Ebay seller for $198 (free shipping, no tax). That is less than half the price of the more sturdy Altrider bars.

I figured that I'd start with the cheaper ones while I get used to the bike, then move to the Altrider product later.

6'2" Altriders. As said, easy to fit, I managed without any help. Only niggles are, it makes the left side panel difficult to get off and the battery is impossible to remove without takeing the RH bar off. But these are things you rarely need to do.

Thanks for all the replies! It looks like the Altrider bars are the fan favourites! I wasn't looking to spend $400+, but I'll definitely give them a second look!

6' 2" with 36" inseam. Very happy with the Givi bars. Had a tipover while releasing bike from tiedowns on a ferry across Lake Michigan. The highway pegs attached to the bars got bent up a little, but everything the bars were supposed to protect in a tipover were protected. Have other AltRider products. They are pricey, but strike me a worth the money if you have the coin.

Altrider. I cannot speak for the other brands but the Altrider bars are stainless so they won't rust if you scratch them.

I have the Mastec crash bars. They fit lower than most, so I don't think there will be a leg clearance issue. I like them because they are more compact, but give solid support if dropped. They bolt onto the factory support locations on the side, and the steel plate/engine block on the front. My tech said if I ever cracked the block from hitting something with these, I'd have more to worry about than a cracked block. BTW, they're only $135.00.

Take a look at Rumbux also. I installed a set last fall and this winter am doing maintenance. All covers came off with relative ease without removing the bars. My old SW Motech's would not let me get the left side plastic off. I had to pull the SW Motech to replace the battery. I have not tried a battery with the Rumbux yet, but it looks like it may wiggle out of there.

And best, they do not mount to the lower parts of the engine (sump), so the sump is well protected.
