There are quite a few motel/hotel/cabins in the town of Ouray. The KOA is actually about 5 miles north of the city of Ouray.
I talked to Debra today and she has 8 tent sites left.Has anyone tried her cell phone yet ? Maybe a text ?
Looking forward to showing up, counting the days ! !
That's great! Thanks for the info Steve. Debra was very helpful.
Dirt Mom and I have a cabin booked for Friday and Saturday night. Old ride plans filed away in the circular filing cabinet. Sometimes you just have to be flexible.
Looking forward to it.
Don't let those tales about the "BIG Passes" keep you from coming to Ouray.I am thinking about attending. Is every one doing off road riding? Any street riders attending. I Never have road much off road. A lot of gravel and fire road stuff.
I wonder if there is someone with a secure trailer that would want to make few bucks providing storage for panniers so people don’t have to struggle off road with them on?Don't let those tales about the "BIG Passes" keep you from coming to Ouray.
The problem with the BIG passes like Emogene and Engineers is that they are popular with the 4 wheeler crowd. Jeeps and ATV's crawling up the steeper switchbacks in 4 wheel drive dig all of the dirt and small rocks out and all that's left is the big rocks creating big steps. The Jeep rentals send their customer up those passes so they get a lot of traffic.
There are plenty of other roads and passes to satisfy riders of all abilities. There are plenty of great roads to ride and a wide variety of Forest Service roads that are not highly technical that link them together.
You can ride north to Ridgeway and take the road to Creek Pass and come out on Hwy 50, ride the Black Canyon Road and then circle back through Montrose back down to Ouray.
The Last Dollar Road is scenic and not technical.
You can ride North to Montrose and ride NW through the Uncompahgre Forest and hit Hwy 141 near Gateway and ride South on 141 to Telluride, a great road. The road south from Telluride, Hwy 145, toward Delores is great. You can cut across back to the Million Dollar Highway via Bolman Pass.
If you are comfortable with gravel and fire roads then these will fit your bill. And if you want to stay on the road then there are plenty of great roads to ride.
Steve
I will have room to store a few between the toy hauler and the truck. Just cost you a beer.I wonder if there is someone with a secure trailer that would want to make few bucks providing storage for panniers so people don’t have to struggle off road with them on?
So just to clarify, is this a go at the KOA in Ouray Co. ? July 26-28?
Post# 95 has a attendee list started but not sure if still being updated....If you plan on joining us, regardless where you will be staying, please let me know so I can have enough stickers for everyone.

Give heberhog a shout, he has a tent site reserved hasn't indicated that anyone else will be sharing with him.If the KOA sites can be split 4 ways/4 tents I'll be looking to share one. Otherwise I'm primitive camping 3 miles outside Ouray.
