Next question; how many days?
I was thinking like a Wednesday through Sunday kinda thing , but do we need more days? Less?

I can start contact some hotels next week to see what kind of group deals we can get in BV, Gunnison, Glenwood Springs and maybe Leadville.
Leadville is really awesome.
Lots of good trail riding in the area
Lots of old mining stuff
The highest jeep through pass in North America is just east of town
High in altitude so it's not hot in the summer

How does July 17 through July 21 work for everyone? A Wednesday through Sunday.
I can't make those dates as I have a wedding in SoCal on the 20th (Hell no! not mine). Any date 22nd or later in July works though.
Leadville is a good choice. Cabins at that campground are reasonable and if you split one with 4 people cheaper than a $34 tent site.

How about bumping it back a week or two, I usually head to Colorado every year around August to get out of the Texas heat!

That would be right after my wife's birthday. Sounds good so far.
Nice list of rides so far. Could always add:
Old Monarch Pass road,
Marshal pass,
Otto Mears(sp?),
the whole Bonanza area,
the area just east of BV which is part of the COBDR route.

Looks like A few friends and I will be in Colorado about the last week in May with Tenere’s, and again in September most likely on Goldwings.

Dude. Make up your mind. Do I bring the toy hauler and Ténéré or motel it on the Venture?

Definitely do NOT adjust any plans because of me ! I’m retired and can ride pretty much whenever and wherever I want. I have never towed a motorcycle anywhere unless it was broke down and that’s only happened 2 times in the last 700,000 miles.

The only thing wrong with Crested Butte, Is "Schofield Pass"
My wife has ridden her ATV through Schofield at least four times [I have ridden through Schofield at least eight times] and she won't let me ride our new Tenere through there.
I would have to be on the 2012 Tenere before I could ride Schofield.

It has been a long time since I have rode up Gunsight Pass so I can't remember if that would be ok on the Tenere.
I remember Gunsight as very pretty up on top.

My memory isn't great but I would think it possible to ride up to Pearl Pass from the south west side.
I don't remember that as being to rough. Just don't go up the North East side. "on your Tenere"
I have trail biked up it 4 or 5 times.

Yes there is a trail through this mess. "north east side of Pearl"

Just west of the Pass of Schofield.

I'm in, and I second the choice for Gunnison. Its central location to the state is a bonus.
The Colorado BDR passes by fairly close, Taylor park, Keebler pass, Cottonwood pass, Hagerman pass, and even some of the big favorites in the San Juans are all doable for day rides.
I also think early August is the best time for riding in Colorado. Passes are mostly open, and the summer Monsoons have not started yet...
