I ordered a US black one a few weeks ago and ordered the comfort and convenience package (heated grips, topcase and liner, taller screen and wind deflectors, and a digital video camera) offered for the US ones today. Any body consider sourcing the silver side covers that come on the non us blue ones to add to the black model? I am really considering painting mine silver as soon as it arrives and leaving the center part black on the right hand side to match the black radiator grill on the left side.

Welcome. I ordered black as well. I would like the side covers to stand out a little more. Maybe I'll borrow someone's silver and try them on first. I'm sure we'll have some sort of gathering of Super T's when we finally get them.

welcome to the fray. Yes, I think a touch of silver would look cool on the raven side panels. That is similar to why I chose the blue because on the U.S. blue model, the side panels are all black providing a nice contrast. Some of the original concept drawings of the first edition had different color schemes on the side panels. Check out this video with the pre production concept bike. Cool looking with Zebra stripes! I also like the tucked in right side exhaust.

Well i don't see the tenere as Prey,so it should at least be panther stripes ;-)
Its a nice concept study, but has nothing to do withe the supertenere, ist a mock up of varadero XT660 en TDM parts ...

To get a look at the tenere in different colorschems i've Photoshoped a Chameleon tenere:
XT1200Z Rainbow Warrior

But the best would be een KR special in Yamaha Racing Yellow with twin Supertrapps onnit :)

Yep, like the yellow.. Good work on the colors..
Nice thing about the bike, if you don't like the color, it would not take much to change it..

Agree. That yellow one is pretty cool. Good job with the photo shop!

The Tenere seems to take on big "character" changes with different colors. Wish Yamaha offered more color options for the US market. "Basic" is the only way I can describe what's offered here, IMHO. Nice job on the vid!

Agreed Ollie. But, like mentioned earlier, it's not too hard to change the color. When my OEM paint begins to show wear, I may actually go for the zebra look. 8)

Cool, I'd love to see that! Hopefully you'll get many years from the OEM paint before you go that route!

Strangely, I saw a Zebra today and got to feed it carrots by hand.....Ok, another story, in another area of the forum.....

That would be cool, but I don't know where we will find silver side panels, as all the USA ones are black. I did get a price from yamabits and it would be about $250 shipped for a set of new silver panels. I can get mine painted for less, but it would be nice to try on a set first.

That's pretty darn cheap, for both panels. I though it would be much more. By the time you get the prep done and pay for the paint, it is almost worth, just buying the panels.
I wonder how much a front fender is?

Well, either my original calculations were off or the dollar lost some value recently. Today's conversion is $320 plus shipping for the pair. 98.82 British pounds each.

Unless you have a son that is a professional body man........ 8)

It only cost me $100 for the paint to have the shrouds and side panels done on my KLR..

Yeah it first seams to be a bland nextdoor gilry in the greay dress, it came in first in Europe, but a few blobs of color, and it changes from yesteryears inbreading from m's TDM sleeping with Mr. FJR, but look at the worldcrosser, which al in all is just a standard XTZ with zom dashes of specialpaint and a few kevlar tidbits.

I'm seriously considering giving my ol blue one to the misses and get en Yellow for myself, wouldnt there be the price between thought and action :)

Perhaps Mr. Hamamatsu will sponsor me, testing new colorscemes?

Well Said ErnsTT. If not for the price between thought and action. Of course, a few ounces of rum slows that process way down, so drink up and go motorcycle shopping. >:D
