I thought I would start a new thread, if the moderators wanted to make this a sticky.
I didn't get a chance to install my new 2014 Clutch Basket in my 2012 Tenere yesterday like I thought, but I did it today. So here's a How To.

Parts to be installed. New Gasket, New Clutch Hub Nut and new 2014 Clutch Basket.

Once I removed the cover, I clean the old gasket off of the case and engine.
Remove the pressure plate screws evenly so you don't distort the plate (a little on each one until they're loose)
Remove the pressure plate and clutch disks. When I do it, I face them down and stack them so they are easily put together in the right order.
Pull the button from the end of the shaft.
and remove the big nut on the Hub. - I used an impact gun with a 1 3/16 socket. I didn't have a metric socket. Close enough ;D
Remove the Hub and the washer that sits behind it.

Remove the washer behind the hub and gently slide the backet off. There is a needle bearing that the basket rides on. It doesn't have to come off with the basket so you can push it back on if it slides with the basket.
Side by side picture old on the left and new on the right. There's ~ 1lb difference between the baskets.
Old: 4 lbs 11.5 oz
New: 5 lbs 12.25 oz

New Basket positioned on the shaft and then the washer that sits between the basket and hub - I always squirt some oil on new parts specifically on the journal that the basket sits on the bearing.
Install the Hub, The washer that the nut tightens against is conical and is stamped which way faces out.
Install the new Nut and torque to specs. 125Nm or 90 ft lbs.
Turn the hub so the groove (or keyway) is pointing up and use a punch or screwdriver and hit the lip of the nut to lock in place. It doesn't need much.

Shows the lip pushed into the groove.
Note: With permission from Karson, I posted a link to his thread regarding his Barnett Pressure Plate installation. In "reply #7, he identifies some specifics around disc alignment taken from the service manual. You may want to reference the link before re-assembly. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=9311.msg154828#msg154828
Re-install the Clutch discs one by one alternating a disc, then a steel plate.
Before you install the end plate - MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE BUTTON BACK.
Put the end plate on. It Should stay, but it is at the end of the basket, so make sure it doesn't fall off.
Line up the diaphram spring and loosely install each of the bolts. You want to tightened them down evenly To prevent any distorsion.
Verify the operation of the Clutch before putting on the side case http://vid215.photobucket.com/albums/cc52/Koinz1/basketoperation/VID_20140821_175019_598_zps8ae3601c.mp4
Install the gasket and side case and torque to specs (no picture)

I took it for a test ride (of course I did) and all I can say is You Guys are going to Love it. I notice the difference before I left my drive way. The Vibration is completely gone.

Hope the instructions help out. It's not a big job. Having the right tools makes a big difference. Took me a little over an hour from start to end while I was taking picture. First timers might take a little longer.

Hope your baskets show up soon, it's night and day difference in my opinion. ::008::

So I suddenly saw a giant elephant in the room after reading this last lil tidbit - is the night and day difference a couple hundies different? Or to put it another way, a new set of big blocks different?

The whole Carlin saying of, scratch a cynic and you'll find a disappointed idealist, yada yada yada might apply in my case, so that's why i ask :D Bracing for that refund email, I guess...

Wow! 27 Years worth of Yamahasupertenere.com members responded to your thread. That's got to be a record these days with all the new members signed up.

Us old Yamahasupertenere.com's need to stick together so as not to get over-run by all the young bucks joining this elite group wanting to kick us off because we are not sharing enough knowledge about this most excellent motorcycle. ;D

I hear you Karson....... Bracing myself for that refund email also.

That's a tough one. It depends on how much it bothers you I guess. It's worth more than 40 bucks that's for sure. I would suggest you take a ride on a 14 model if you can, and judge for yourself. I don't want to tell you to spend your money and you didn't think it was worth it. I took a short ride and there was none of that harshness around the 3200 rpm range. If it's worth it to you to get rid of that, then the basket is worth it. ::26::

Works for me ::008:: I'll probably get it regardless of if only one of my two come in, winters are long here.

A few ways to do this but Koinz how did you Install the new nut
and torque the basket to specs. by holding basket rotation? I would like to know what you think the best way you think is without a holder tool or if is that what you used?

Thanks,
Bruce

I have tusk universal tool clamped on the hub. When I was tightening the nut, the vise grip part of the handle firmly rested against the brake lever enabling to torque the nut. Others have mention putting the bike in gear and holding the brake to hold it from turning or use an impact wrench to tighten it. You might need to zoom in on the picture in reply no. 4

Great write up Koinz !

One other item - beware of the dowl pins that align the cover to the side case. Mine fell out, but if it lands inside and goes undetected then bad things will happen.
