Great write up Koinz !

One other item - beware of the dowl pins that align the cover to the side case. Mine fell out, but if it lands inside and goes undetected then bad things will happen.
Good point. There's one at 11:00 and the other at 5:00 oclock. My top one stayed on the engine side and the bottom came off with the cover.

Great write-up and pics, thanks for taking the time to post it up!

As one of the unlucky ones who already received a refund, it still sounds like this is worth a couple Benjamins!

Thank you Koinz! ::012::

I ordered the goods a couple weeks back...missed out on the pricing error. Stadium gave me a back order date of 8/22 for the primary drive.

Meh...it's only money...I can't take it with me.

I would've but I had it replaced under warranty so I didn't have to get my hands dirty on that one. ;D

ive been busy riding,
but can someone post up the part numbers and approximate cost.
looks like an easy mod, and I may do this along with my manual cam chain tensioner that should be coming shortly.

winters are long, might as well kill some time.

I'm going to lock this topic. If this is not the same as making it a sticky, I'll need a moderators help to do that.
I guess locking it isn't a good idea since no one can post on it. Duh ;D

Will this get rid of the throttle grip vibration that puts hands to sleep in 20 minutes?
Don't know about that. It might help though. This upgrade basically resolves the harshness that people feel around the 2800-3200 rpm range. The engine has its own harmonic vibrations that might still be there.

I've done the clutch basket replacement and it does resolve the chudder issue at 2900-3600rpm. I had it and now it's gone. Also, the bikes vibrations have been greatly reduced throughout the rpm range. IMHO definitely a huge improvement.

I'm very impressed with Yamaha for acknowledging and resolving this issue in a subsequent model year.

I'm curious how it ever made it off the line with this vibration. Everyone here has acknowledged the vibe to some degree so I find it hard to believe the engineers didn't notice it during testing & design and try to eliminate it then. Perhaps they did notice it and felt it was negligible as many have stated here.

You know when I demo'd a tenere before they were released in the states, I didn't notice any vibration at all and I was kind of sensitive to it because of my dl1000. I think all the demo bikes were euro models that were making their rounds so maybe less of a problem there.
Glad they fixed it though.
