One other thing .
Make sure you move the last Friction Plate ONE NOTCH to the RIGHT (as your looking at it ).
Don't align it with the other plates .

I thought I would start a new thread, if the moderators wanted to make this a sticky.
I didn't get a chance to install my new 2014 Clutch Basket in my 2012 Tenere yesterday like I thought, but I did it today. So here's a How To.

Parts to be installed. New Gasket, New Clutch Hub Nut and new 2014 Clutch Basket.
Thanks guys, I will be performing the upgrade this weekend and your help has been really welcome.

Hello! Im faceing some rattling sound in my ST1200 2011.i was pretty sure that the problem is in clutch basket but after i read this topic im not sure. Plese help. Bike starts nice not rattles no shakes. Just fine. The only problemcis while hard accelerating aboit 3k to 5k rpm. Engine just rattles but there is no vibartion. Additionaly some times gears are pretty nice up and down shitf perfect but some times i need to use some force ( no clunky noises) i jave already cleaned gear shif bolt and grease this part. No improvement. Thank you in advance for help

In my experience, the gear shift pivot requires regular greasing, I do mine twice a year. I also bleed the clutch each year. CCTs on early bikes, particularly with higher mileage are know to be occasionally problematic. Might be worth upgrading with the newer version.

My guess on your issue though, is that you’d benefit from the Gen2 basket upgrade. It seems that not all Gen1 bikes suffered with noisy and/or vibrating baskets. On mine it was a significant improvement, and I really mean significant.

Obviously hard to give a meaningful opinion without hearing your bike. Based on your post, that’s my thoughts.

Boris, thank you for your reply.
Just to clarify, i have already greased gear shift pivot (3 days ago) at the same time i have also flush and replaced dot4 in clutch pump. But there is no changes.
My ST is 2011 so i belivethe clutch basket is gen1.
Things that dont match with orher people havin trobule with clutch basket is that i dont have any symptoms or noises on idle and dont habe the vibrations. Only issue is ratling sound at mid revs while hard acceleration

Hello,

I just replaced my 2013 basket with a 14. Also added Barnett friction plates and the Spring kit that replaces the stock diaphragm version. All went back together purdy smooth. But when I grabbed the clutch it was really limp. Only felt like engagement just before contacting the bar, bummer. On the stand when I click into gear, clutch depressed, the wheel spins but I can stop it with my foot and it remains stopped. When I let out the clutch the rear wheel does not spin. :( Did I introduce air into the clutch line? Bleed Clutch? Or do I have bigger problems and need to pull the side cover and start searching for the problem?

Unlikely that the clutch needs bleeding. If I was in your situation, I’d have the cover off, first check the ball bearing and top hat are installed correctly. Next I’d put the Yamaha spring kit back on and see how that feels at the lever, cover still off.

Thanks for the response. I bleedatized the clutch and it needed it, dirty. That went smoothly, clutch feel better, but no go. I also just noticed that the after market gear indicate light remains in neutral state when I go to gear 1 or 2 in stand. Definately gots an install problem. Gonna pull the cover. and see what I can see. Then put the stock diaphragm/spring on.

Fixed , Its states right in that instructions you may need to index Barnett Pressure Plate to get it in the proper position. I did not do that correctly. The plate was riding up on the mounting post and not engaging the friction plate. Could have been easily determined if I had just touched the outside friction plate it would have revealed the stack slack.

The new clutch is just the Bomb Diggity. 3k rpm can of marbles gone! Smooth engagement. shifts great , down shifts under deceleration much better. dropping into neutral from 2nd, butter.

Crap. 4th or 5th gear under hard acceleration clutch slips at 5100 rpm, catches up then slips and catches up at 6K. Called Barnett and tech says add the stiffer springs on the pressure plate. Ok will do. But the worrisome thing is I previously talked to a tech at Barnett and he said if the motor was stock that the lightest set of springs should work fine. I had synth Castrol 20-50 oil in it. Might switch to Motul or Belray.

With 47K miles my new to me 2012 had such a bad vibration below 4K rpm it felt like the motor was coming apart under load and made bad noises. The dealer even noticed it when doing the idle/wiring recall. I wasn't sure the basket could cure such a mess but I replaced it and all is good :).

I installed the Barnett MT-58 Springs (Black , 55 lbs @22.3mm). She pulled like a scalded ape right through to 7K.

Hope that does it for issues as I am tired of being a mechanic. Time to ride.

So for anybody installing the Barnett friction plates, spring pressure plate and retaining the stock drive plates I would recommend the aforementioned springs. Adds a little bit more lever tension is all.

If I had it all to do over I proly would have went ahead and purchased the Barnet drives plates as well as they may be a skosh thicker than stock.

Just ordered the new clutch basket, gasket and nut to upgrade my 2013. Can't wait to compare the before/after.
I did it on mine and there is a great good improvemente (difference) with the upgraded basket, the vibration was significatly reduced!!
You will see it! it is much more confortable to ride at cruise speed of 65-70 MPH! (in the 3000-4000 rpms range)
Post your thoughts after the replacement is done!
Have a great day!
