The push rivet 90269-06008-00 is used in several places to hold cowling parts in place. My problem is that I seem to lose or break them every time I remove the part being held. Yamaha price is $3.49 each.

I found these on Amazon that do the job https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071V6LNWY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

$8.49 for a 100. Because the center can be unscrewed there is a chance that they may even be reusable

I feel like I got a bag of 10 of them from partsfish.com for not so much.

EDIT: $2.05 ea. Still ridiculous for a part that costs a few pennies, but worth $10 to have a little pile of spares, IMO.

As far as where they're used on the side panels, there's room for a screwdriver. I use a nail set to push the pin into the rivet housing so I can remove the rivet, so I'm pretty sure that at least a stubby screwdriver will fit in that space. That's the only place I've found them on the bike, though admittedly I haven't ever removed any of the body work other than the side panels. I lost one of the OEM ones once, and my jaw dropped when the parts manager at the dealership told me how much they cost. I've definitely spent 8 bucks on less useful things LOL.

So far I haven’t lost one in 50,000 miles, guess I will just pay the crazy $3 for a new one from dealer if ever needed.
Have bought some aftermarket pins for my Goldwing and in my opinion yes they cost less but they were mostly crap I wouldn’t buy them again unless I was in a pinch.

Same ones are used on the GL1800. Honda price even higher. I've never lost one on either motorcycle. I like the pushpin rivets Honda and Yamaha uses. If you are careful in removal they are never a problem.

There are 3 on the triangular panel with the Yamaha logo behind the windshield just forward of the meter
There are also a couple of them used inside the left panel to hold the radiator air duct in place. I managed to lose one from there when I dropped the bike in the dirt on the left side. I found the other one under the bike in a parking lot miles later and didn't realize it was mine until I got home. I knew the duct was loose but figured I'd busted something in there. Turns out these two little plastic rivets just popped out. I had the one I recovered and a leftover spare from my ST1300 that was identical.
