been looking at the new 2014 tenere and noticed they have fitted a black plastic wind deflector under the headlamps. yamaha say its to stop wind getting up under the clocks and causing buffeting ...but .. it also hides that big gapping hole that,s there & tidies all the front end up ...so....talking to my local dealer and the plastic wind deflector by its self is only ... " £8 : 29p" .... however he went on to say the fitting kit is over £20 ? ? .. i thought now hold on a bit , ive just had a look on the 2014 model and this wind deflector is only held in place by " TWO " bolts ? ? ....so i ordered the plastic deflector only [ part number 2BS-28365-00 ] it came a week later , i used two stainless steel bolts + 2 washers to fit it in place on my 2011 model tenere [ it will fit on any model 2010 + ] and it took 3 minutes to do ...and i have to say it looks great ..i have done 400mls with it on and its still solid ...cannot say that it has made any difference to wind deflection but it has made the whole of the front of the bike look a lot better ....for £8 : 29P..... A BARGAIN .... get one bought before yamaha click on to it and raise the price ...

Are you able to post a picture of your bike with this installed?

Since the bikes haven't officially (I'm guessing) arrived in the States, this part isn't available. Its listed on the parts fiche, but shown as 'not shipping'. Curious what the price will be. Plastics tend to be steep.

this is a great thread - i'd looked at the 2014 and wondered if it would fit and ow you have confirmed that it does - happy days!

and a bargain too!

can you tell us - what size bolts you used? and where into? - is it the fittings under the lights? I wonder if there is something else in the "fitting kit" to total £20?

also - if you use photo bucket or flickr or a similar photo sharing site you can just link to the pictures - no need to keep them under 250k - hope this helps.

Part #57 doesn't look to be a bolt or screw. Described as a 'grommet', it may be a plastic push pin or a rubber bushing that is used to somehow orient the part correctly.

Mine has the 2 bolts but no part 57 also.

I installed the 6" LED Rigid light bar but did not remove it. I added added some spacers and longer bolts and that cover drops about an inch below the LED bar.

I fitted one today. I used two M6 x 25mm stainless bolts, four M6 C size stainless washers, and two M6 stainless nyloc nuts to fit the panel. The Yamaha nuts and bolts are stupidly expensive compared to the panel. The panel is under £9 but the fitting parts would be around £20 so I used my own buts, bolts and washers, but maybe the Yamaha bolts might blend in cleaner than the stainless ones I used. Anyhow here are some pictures of the kit and the before and after look...

It's definitely better finished with the cover. I'm at the dealer this week for my harness recall, so I think I'll order one, thanks for the photo ::008::

Just ordered one from my local dealer, $7.00. Ordered it primarily for the looks and if it does help with buffeting or keeping some road spray from getting under there, that's fine too.

Now here’s a funny thing..... I bought my pre-owned 2017 non ES SuperTen in August
last year and when I read this thread, I couldn’t recall ever noticing a gaping hole below the lights, so I just went into the garage and took a look at the bike...... Guess what? My bike already has one of these plastic filler plates fitted! So..... maybe, just maybe, these aren’t a new thing on 2019 bikes. Perhaps the previous owner had it fitted or perhaps it came as standard fitting, but whatever, I already have one of these.

Maybe I should read ALL of the threads properly because I have just noticed it was started in 2014..... Doh!
