Guys I have a súper tenere 2013 with only 1100 miles, the bike always starts, never gave me a problem but two week ago I couldn’t start it, it was fighting me to stay on I had to use the throttle to keep the bike on (higher rpm) I never seen that before so I ordered a new battery because it was time but the problem continues, if I don’t accelerate the bike wants to turn off, I went for a short ride and it looks like the bike got stock at a much higher rpms, and when I released the throttle it went back to the normal position but the bike continued in higher rpm then the bike turned off when I made a full stop. It did this several times and I went back home. The bike was not use in the winter but i started it weekly, The throttle is is moving freely and goes back to its normal position but the bike wants to shutdown.

How old is the gas in the tank? An eight year old bike, with 1,100 miles. . . . I'm guessing it doesn't get ridden much. I'd get rid of the current fuel, and put some premium in there; and maybe some fuel system cleaner.

I wouldn't do anything until I put the new battery in. These things are famous for running weird when the battery gets weak. My 13 was getting hard to start and it wouldn't idle, revved up on it's own and would just die. A new battery fixed everything and I haven't had any problems since. I think when the battery is weak. the ecu doesn't get enough voltage on startup and goes a little bit crazy.

Sounds like it's starving for air. Check the airbox for mouse nests. Sitting all winter in Nevada is prime desert rat and mice territory. (I used to live in St George, UT) If you don't have a battery charger, take the battery out and to your local auto parts store and ask them to load test it. They will charge it overnight typically before doing the test and it should be free. That will tell you if the battery is bad or just low on charge.

This sounds like the high RPM idle and stall Voodoo curse 2010 - 2013 model.
Had the same issue Yamaha fixed it for free before the recall.
I hounded the hell out of them, call after call after call until they brought the tech and wires and fixed it.
You need to get to a Yamaha dealer with your VIN number and call YAMAHA U.S.A.

I'm having the same issue right now. Bike is idling at 2500 rpm and I'm experiencing some surging and a really twitchy throttle.
Can you tell me any more about this issue? Mine is a 2012.

It's a 2013 Gen1 so are there any codes?

Seriously 1100 miles ..... no zero missed off?

I'd go with stale fuel too, as the first port of call. Drain the tank, get some fresh gas & seafoam or similar to cleanse the system.

i was having no start issues till last month. Found that the spark plugs were wore out and only finger tight. Dirty air filter. Also valves were tight and loosened up-. No starting issues now.

And? What’s the status? You must have figured it out by now.
