Buying a new super tenere

I'm tempted to pull the trigger on a new tenere. Everything I read is positive but the sticking point is no local dealer can offer a test ride. They don't even have one in the showroom to have a good look at and sit on. They will only get one in if it's ordered and it's a big outlay without a test ride. Last dealer I spoke to said he believes Yamaha will discontinue the bike in the next year or so??? Any one else heard this?
I guess i will wait until the NEC bike show to have a good look and decide what to do.

No, I have not heard anything about discontinue th Super Tenere.
And yes, I would also wait until I could have a good look at the bike, AND a test ride..
Bradford?? maybe someone nearby have a S10?

I put money down on a Ténéré in '11 sight unseen. The longer you delay the less riding you'll get in.

Good evening Dogdaze, I have already seen yours in the for sale section. Ideally I would be looking at the ES version. And as appealing as a trip through Europe is, it will add to the overall costs.

Worth a shot right? Be persistent with the dealers or call up Yamaha HQ in Crawley, they are helpful and will nudge a dealer into action. I did the same when my selling dealer gave me the run-around regarding COC for export.

Ha. Definitely worth a shot :) just too much involved with insurance and re registering etc. And no ES ;)

I get the Non-ES bit, but FWIW, it is UK registered and insured by Carole Nash, have not registered it over here yet, still have UK V5. Not until end of September that is.

If I had the choice again I'd buy an ES in the UK we are lucky in that the ES comes with a huge amount of extras over the non ES.

If you're in Bradford then take a 20 mile ride to Rochdale. Robinson's are a Yamaha dealer. According to AutoTrader they have a couple in stock. A lot closer than the NEC. :-D

dont wait just do it, lowball a dealer or two, if they dont play, walk away.

ive been buying bikes in the UK for a while now, for myself i might add
. importing back is a little hassle, but in general uk bikes are in better shape than ones here.

UK dealers are going to price themselves out of hte makrt, the greed money they are looking for on used bikes on a whole is outrageous. theyll bite off their nose to spite their face.

Looking online Yamaha UK appear to be offering 0% credit on the majority of new bikes. But not the tenere

I don't know about over there, but in the US, the cars with the biggest rebates are generally the slowest sellers. If the same logic applies, y'alls Teneres don't need any "enticements", but the majority of the other bikes do.

Speaking to a few local dealers they don't even keep the tenere in stock. Plenty of other models ( at 0%) but no tenere. One dealer said they only shift a few tenere a year.
