Buffalo sooooo many buffalo. Wind Cane National park is terrific. If ever in Rapid City worth the detour.

Did a amazing loop on the S10 today.

From the 79 out of Rapid City. Turn right on 16 (Lame Johnny Road is how it is marked) Gravel 35 mph ish graded and nice curves. That sneaks you into Custer State Park without paying... (Opps didn't know that). Turn Left on Csp Rd 1 for just a short distance of pavement. Just before you hit Rd1, there was a massive herd of Buffalo for me, including many calves and mommas. Aprox 300 head.

Left on to 6 (well marked) 25 to 0 mph road, some rough spots. have to spend time looking for holes. Wouldn't take it in a stock Jeep, but okay for a bike as you can pick and choose lanes not hard core or anything. About 2 billion prairie dogs right along the road. Funny little guys. This road knocked me off my feet, just an absolutely stunning valley.

Turn Right on 5 (can also go left and loop around) Mostly maintained gravel 35-50mph road. Few holes, but easy to spot and avoid.

Right on the 101 (also marked 7-11 road) 50+ mph well maintained gravel. That will dump you on to the 385 (paved) and up to the visitor center and cave tour. You can then loop through Custer/Mt Rushmore and back to Rapid City.

All told about 30 miles of dirt. Through just insanely beautiful country. On the way out got to see another herd of Buffalo only about 100 in that one.... WOW

That whole area is one of the biggest surprises I’ve seen. Coming from the east it’s flat and then you go through badlands and then you get up into the blackhills. I can’t wait to go back just beautiful and amazing.

Absolutely agree. I normally spend a week in a place before moving on. I spent 3 near Rapid City. I put well over 3500 miles on the bikes. So many great roads either high speed or low speed curves as you wish.

If I'm still traveling next year, will 100% spend a month.
