Howdy folks,
I am Jay from just West of Indianapolis, IN and I am about to bring home a 2017 S10 in a couple days after about a year of shopping. I am coming from 10 years on an ST1300 (which I am keeping). After trolling a few times, you folks have a great forum. I look forward to sharing and learning a lot! I have a few questions:

What is the best oil and the best tires and the best luggage/panniers for the S10?
Just kidding! :))

Seriously though, I do mostly commuting and long distance rides as my work/family schedule allows. Looking forward to expanding my horizons.

Jay

Welcome from Canada Eh!

I've owned an ST1300 as well for a couple of years before I sold it and my Rocket III to buy a S10. You know what would of made the ST1300 even more awesome? Cruise Control. But it doesn't have it, so I decided to give it up. It was also spectacularly heavy and made for some very ass puckering moments riding on gravel or construction roads! But man did it have some great mileage and a super smooth engine... You will love having both!! ::004::

I am just down the road from you in Greenwood. I have a 14 Tenere with Jesse luggage, Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires, and Yamalube oil. Where are you purchasing your 17? I rode the train all night from Chicago to Cumberland, Maryland where a salesman from Romney, West Virginia of Romney Cycles picked me up and took me to dealership. I then rode the Tenere back home to Indiana and after going across Rt 50 through the West Virginia mountains had the engine broken in. So it was a fun adventure. Jbird

Thanks all for the welcome wishes. I am going with a blue ES model. Long story, but I have been shopping long enough. I have been brand loyal to Honda for quite some time, and might have considered the new cross-tour, but they are obviously no longer in touch with the market.

They sell enough cars to worry about the bike market. And that's ANOTHER Cobalt Blue Tenere. They actually have another color(s). There's black, not bad, and then there's "Desert Sandstone". It should be called "too much cream in your coffee", because I've never seen sandstone that color. Looks dirty.

Old thread- you've had the bike a year and a half, has Dreyer been your go-to? Any problems with their service department? They seem to have a good thing going, I'm about to pull the trigger on an S10, and would like to give them the sale. I can find another a tad cheaper, out of town, but if Dreyer as reliable as they appear to be on the surface, I'll keep my bucks in Indy.

Thoughts?

Welcome aboard Danny! I have no problems with Dreyer, but I rarely use their service department since I do my own maintenance. I will use them for warranty work, but honestly doubt that I will ever have the need with the S10. They took good care of me with a wreck / repair estimate earlier this year, so no complaints. I would have purchased from them, but they never had the model / color I wanted at the time I was shopping.
