Yes, Yamaha upgraded the CCT twice, the part is definitely revised and improved.

Many owners in the US have gone over to a manual aftermarket CCT and are very happy with them, I chose to upgrade to the automatic Yamaha part.

Nice adds Boris. Yamaha has revised the design, improving it, twice now. To the best of my knowledge, no one has had an outright failure of either of the revised units. There is a report on this forum of one that didn't work correctly when installed, but it's unknown why or the full details of that.

Item #11 about $125 CAD right now, plus some shipping. Still stings, but better. PARTSHARK

I am lookin at a shop manual right now and it looks like I can just swap the new one without accidently changing the timing.
**On PartsShark if its in US $ 171– will cost me 233$ in fabulous Canadian dollars! Worth ,73$ in a 1US $ right now. You guys are lucky parts are way cheaper on your side!

That's what I get for being quick and sloppy! Did the conversion backwards. :D Sorry about that.

The parts cost the same, it's other things that differ. Cost of living, health care, etc.

APE and Graves are the two quality manual versions. One has a finer pitch adjustment and is the preferred, but I've forgotten which. A forum search should find that info here. You can't search on three letter words though, and a - means to ignore what's after that in your search string.

Ok! Wow, thank very much! You made it pretty clear to understand. For now, when I start the engine I didn’t notice any strange rattling sound.
For sure I will look to change the CCT at the same time as valves clearance.
Did Yamaha came out with a new design, better replacement part for it , or you have to go for an aftermarket option ?
Yep, it's been redesigned a couple times since 2010. '14 was the first design change. The dreaded rattle is very obvious when it happens. And the problem is/was very widely scattered. Mine rattled. Because of the catastrophic nature of a failure, many have replaced the tensioner proactively even though there there was no noise, and may very well never have become noisey. A mechanical is nice, though there is no problem having Yamaha put the newest design in either.

Welcome aboard! If you need any help with the forum , feel free to reach out to myself or Checkswrecks.

For the wiring on the Gen 1 bike (like your 2012), there are two harnesses tucked back, usually near the tool roll. The 4 pin is for the optional heated grip kit. It came with a very large knob for heat control, and a few owners here did fit them. The other harness is a 3 pin for the aux light kit. Most owners here tend to use the 3 pin to power an EB power block, as they sell a bike specific harness to tie into that connector.
