Braking question. Front lever only or combo

First off, Nothing dangerous, nothing I am worried about. It is very mild. Just something I've been noticing.

When braking at say 45mph to a stop light. As I get down under 10mph I get sort of a "wobble" side to side in the front end. Just like 2-3 times.
It almost seems as if it is coming from the rear, like the rear end is pushing causing me to "work" and keep the front end straight. Again very mild it's more of a feel than actually having to do something about it. Problem is, its hit and miss so I can't reliably replicate it to diagnose it further.

Popped in my head it could be the linked brake system fighting me? I roll on the front lever and then apply rear pedal as I would on a non linked system out of force of habit. Should I only be using the front lever?

Could very well be like Jlg1969 write.
But your last question...I also break like you describe some times, and feel no "wobble", actually I don't feel antthing different, than if I oly use front brake, or only rear brake, or rear brake first then front..
So, something is wrong:oops:

As it is only in abrupt braking, there may be other more complicated, chassis misaligned by a strong fall, or displacement in the rear fork by worn bushings.

I'm with the warped front disc theory, but it's a difficult one to analyse from afar with 2 floating discs involved. Seems like it's only slight run-out at this stage, so probably easier to just go with it for now.

Close examination of the disc surface may give you a clue to any run-out. Check all the bobbins are allowing the disc to 'float' at the same time.

If that fails to tie it down, then get the front end on a rolling road brake tester - get the operator to run the rollers whilst you sit astride the bike & apply the front brake. Take great care & keep the bike straight/upright. The testing machine, along with visible vibrations, will soon show up the issue...if there is one. If not, then back to the drawing board.

A warped disk usually results in some pulsing at the lever. I more suspect your front tire. How worn is it? Most of us won't notice scalloping of the tread until it gets fairly bad, aside from some tire noise in corners, but it's most noticeable at very low speed.

Eric beat me to it, again. Your description does not say brakes to me. Check the pressure, but my money is on a worn front tire. Used to happen on the RT and ST all the time; lots of heavy front braking. I don't get it on the Tenere, but I don't brake like I used to either; and the Tenere has more engine braking. But, BalKnob's right too though; too many variables to diagnose for sure from afar.

I also lean towards worn tire theory.
I got a warped left rotor at 20,000km'ish.
No idea how, never had been off road by then.
Only dry, sunny, tar riding. You'll feel a shudder or pulsing, but not snaking.

On the unified braking, read the owner manual.
Using only the front is sufficient under most tar conditions.

Using the rear first and then the front disables the unified braking and you are in full manual control.
I've tested it, front is much heavier when I use the rear first.

A diformed front disc?

Bobbins and checking the rotors on the todo list for tomorrow, but figured check in and make sure there wasn't a "known issue" with doing front + rear. Thanks guys.

Tire according to the seller (just bought the bike) has around 2500 miles on it. That looks about right.

Usually, if it's a rotor, it will "pulse" every time you activate the brakes. Worn tires only "wobble" at the slow speeds. I've cupped plenty of tires because of hard braking, but I've never warped a rotor because of it.

How does it feel when you run your hand over it? Smooth as you run from tread block to tread block, or like you are stepping up and down? Mileage alone is no indicator of wear. I've cupped a tire in a single day ride with low pressure and tight goat trail roads demanding braking into corners. (lessons learned on that ride)

Nope tire is good. I'll double check tomorrow as I am running the bobbins.

I had both front rotors replaced on my bike under warranty due to warpage at about 26K.

Found the problem (I think) One on the front pads is wearing different than the rest. Pistons seemed to be fine, I think a rock or something might have got in there at some point. So Ill swap out pads and sure that will fix it.

Check too that the height of the front shock absorbers, be the same. It's just to make you, work a little while longer:)
