Again with the "they", but they do need to know about that failure. I'm pleased to hear you are getting out and about more than you thought you would, that's awesome.

Nice that you found this before it stranded you out in nowhere land.
I have over 221,000 miles on my front wheel bearings with no problems.
To say riding off road could damage bearings is nonsense, You would have to destroy the rim before it would ever harm the bearings.
Even the crashed Tenere that I purchased with a smashed front rim the bearings felt fine. [but I would never use them]
Tenere riders need to keep an eye on that right side rear wheel bearing though. It is the same part # as the front bearings but is much smaller than the left side rear bearings and just doesn't last as long.

With that mileage shouldn't the dealership be addressing this? They eff'd up something.
Certainly no harm, but if it's a bearing failure, that's a wear item, so likely no love unless it is somehow obvious that it was damaged from the factory. A really good dealer might handle it under warranty and understand how to phrase the claim so it's covered and not flagged as "wear", which is specifically not covered under the warranty.

@eemsreno - I'm not suggesting off pavement riding damages wheel bearings. I'm suggesting wheel bearings can get damaged, and off pavement is an easy place to encounter an unexpected hard hit. I know riders that lost a wheel bearing after running over a curb, for example. I've read on this forum of riders that suffered early wheel bearing failure from severe off pavement conditions. It's not common, but shit happens.

2500 miles though. Not a wear item at that point. Doesn't have to have been damaged on install, when parts fail due to something other than wear they need to be backtracked. Just a freak one out of thousands of bearings or one of hundreds of bad bearings.

Had a friend who went through a couple of front wheel bearings back to back. Turned out, he had bent the front axle and it was putting uneven pressure on the bearing.

Sometimes freak things happen (his wasn't a freak thing, his was 'too many wheelies with a hard set-down' ;) )

Hope it's just a one off!
