I noticed some serious front brake drag on my gen1. 2013 46000 miles. Spin my front tire wouldn't make a half a round. I took the calipers off and took pistons out. Inside looked brand new. pistons weren't too crusty. Cleaned them. I bled and still had a ton of drag. I tried a few few drops of acf50 on the pistons. Still draggin. I got some permatex brake grease and lubed the pistons .Front tire will spin a bunch off rounds now. That stuf works.

More than the pistons, clean those pins bright and shiny!

At 46,000 you might also think about a set of wheel bearings.

Glad the Permatex worked for you, but the pistons themselves were not the problem. The rubber seals on the pistons are most often the culprit for either dragging brakes, OR, excessive lever movement before the brake pads come in contact with the disks, depending on which direction the seals are binding.
