Water pump failed already ? Any idea why it failed so early ?
no idea why it failed. I pulled into monarch pass and noticed antifreeze down the side of the bike coming from the pump area and my pant leg was soaked. I had been riding off pavement before and the temps got up to 225. Now I’m not sure it it wasn’t leaking then causing the temps to rise.

If you want to come out I know of a water pump that can be over night shipped to you. It will hold you over till your new one comes in. “Many-many weeks”
I appreciate the offer, but I want to get it home and give it a good leak and make sure that’s what it is. May talk to the dealer and see if that’s a warranty issue. Bought the bike in November.

Not sure why the pic is upside down. On the phone it’s right side up

I would think that it would have to be a warranty issue, with the exception that you physically did something to damage the pump.

I sure hope so. I don’t know what I could have down to damage the pump. I guess pump failure is not common on the s10? Still learning what I need to mindful of on the bike

No problem. If you find yourself in a situation where you need a quick pump let me know.

This looks like a catastrophic seal failure or looks to me like a crack in the housing with that much pumping out.

Sorry to hear that you can’t make it. Didn’t you have a vehicle accident trying to make the last one?
Speedy recovery.

Oh Yea - I need this mental break from the BS of work.

Will be leaving Rapid City and showing up around Noon in the Hippy van on Thursday; will bring the T7. Open to taking a group out for an afternoon 2-track run if anybody wants.

Look fore-ward to introducing some you to good old Black Hills dust and cow-pies!

I’ll wash it off good and check to see if I can find a crack somewhere. I figure that makes more since. No marks on the skid plate in that area but still maybe the issue. Thanks for that thought.

If they dont warranty the "broken" part and you need this one let me know... So you can make the event... low coolant is probably why you witnessed the temp spike. These bike have temp protection, if it gets to hot it just turns off, dead in the water until it cools off......

(For everyone) I suggest everyone carry some QWIK JB weld and the normal 'original' JB weld with you at all times.... Especially out on road trips away from home and the office. It could literally save your butt. Water pump, oil pan, bags, Etc.... I was in Monument Valley, UT once. The buddy I was riding with had some major wipe out behind me and had a total yard-sale in the middle of the smooth dirt road. His stock Yamaha bag exploded and turned into a TACO. We strapped it all back up to his bike and that night we took the whole bag/ box apart and JB welded it totally all back together. It was "good as new" the next morning. He actually used that same bag for several years until he sold the bike.... LOL

Didn't the guys on Himalya Calling, JB weld their oil filter together too. I was surprised that they could get it clean enough.

One time I get this call on my cell phone- This guy just road like two hours across the Utah desert to get to some cell service. He then spent "sometime" finding someone that would give them my cell number. I get this random call on some like Sunday afternoon. He explains that two hours away his Tenere buddy just punched a hole in the oil pan, he asked my suggestion on getting him back........... LONG STORY SHORT, I suggested JB weld, what to do, how to clean, extra oil, Etc... He could find all this in a small 'back woods gas station"... After all this he said thanks...

I get another random call like a month later thanking me for my help, Etc...... He bought, and did what I suggested out in the desert at 1-2AM and fixed the oil pan... They ended up riding a long ways out and I believe he said it worked so well they ended up riding home with the "fix".... Before they replaced the pan........

Im some cases JB WELD could save your life....... not kidding.....

Oh, I'm a huge fan of it. There are those times that, short of replacement, JB Weld is the only fix. And, you're right. . . . you can find it almost anywhere. Bonus is that it's almost fool proof. If I can get it to work. . . . anybody can. They even have a copper version.

In the power plants we used a product from Deacon called Magic Epoxy Putty . As long as the surface was dry and semi clean it worked . Need to make sure I have some on the Tenere.

It would be good to have a local guide for an afternoon. Do we need to get a OHV sticker? Looking forward to see the T7 in the wild!
