Battery tired at 32k? Can I fit a YTZ14BS?

Hi all,

My '14 ES is well used and done 32k already. I think the battery is getting a bit sluggish. Has anyone fitted the YTZ14 battery as is appears to be the same external dimensions? I have a big trip in 6 weeks and want it right before I leave.

My battery seems weak but it always starts fine, load tester says it's fine , Yamaha cheaper out once again, whenever I need to replace it will most likely be YTZ14BS,

I dont have one on my S-10, but I am running one on my KTM EXC. And I am not an expert on batterys. That said, I had to add a special charger to my collection, as the limitations as to what you can use to charge the battery. Apparently if the battery goes below a certain level, it won't charge. Ill use it on my dirt bike, but I am not willing to use it on my street bike. Plus, all the lithium batteries that blow up or catch on fire. NO THANKS. ::021::

Has anyone had experience with any of the lithium battery alternatives on the Tenere?

Might help with this question and add a long term update on the Earth X ETX24C lithium battery I installed in my 12 in March of 2014. Chose this one over the others available due to its built in battery monitoring system which is supposed to protect from an over or under voltage situation. Its covered around 48,000 km so far has worked well. Has done some long hot runs through the US midwest with no sign of problems due to the heat. Earth X shows the ETX18C as the one recommended for the Tenere but I chose to move up one model to hopefully give a bit better starting in cold weather which has helped. It does have a noticeable drop in cranking speed when you get down to freezing temps. but has always started the bike. In warmer temps. it does have a definite faster starting RPM compared to a stock battery.

Thanks for that information. I don't need a battery yet, but the cranking speed of the OEM one seems just barely adequate. Sometimes I wonder if it's going to start but so far it always has. Here in SoCal freezing temperatures don't really count as a consideration and the only time I ride the bike out of state is in the summer.
