I have a set of LD Comfort. Work well. Especially on some wet day rides in the India mountains.

Thinking about adding / replacing. MotoSkiveez seem to be gaining popularity among ADV / Long Distance riders. Pricey though.

Looking for pros & cons - LDComfort v MotoSkiveez (or any other alternative brand/option)

Motoskiveez didn't work for me. The product was to thick/bulky and I never could get comfortable. I will mention the customer service from Motoskiveez was outstanding.

Have the LD Comfort riding shorts and like them a lot. Thinking about getting a backup pair and Long Sleeve Top.

I dont have any experience with LD Comfort, but I did recently purchase some Moto Skiveez at Overland Expo in Flagstaff, AZ. Wore them for the first time on a day-long dirt bike ride where I spent several hours in the saddle of my KTM 400. The Adventure shorts with their butt pad completely eliminated and sore spots and I finished the day feeling great and ready to ride another several hours. The shirt worked great under my compression suit and kept me cool and dry (though it was not an especially warm day). Overall I am quite happy with my purchase.

I have three pairs of LD Comfort shorts and one long sleeve top. They work very well for me and have no complaints. Easy to take a roadside, or bathroom, pee with the front opening designed just for that.

Tried Moto Skiveez and they did not work for me. Can't recall what the specific issue was now. Maybe now with a new saddle I will give them another try.

A key to longevity with any of this gear is gentle machine washing and air drying. The dryer will tear this stuff up in short order. I use a dry bag for washing on the road followed by line drying.

I like the LDcomfort in full leg, and long sleeve top. I also have the shorts, but only used them until I tried the full long leg bottoms. The full legs keep your entire legs free of sticky sweat. I've never tried the other brand, but would recommend the full leg tights, and long sleeve top for best results in LDComfort.

Quite a few years ago I tried LD comfort long sleeve top and boxer bottoms, back then they had a 30 day satisfaction warranty, well after about 3 days of using them I returned them for a refund. I’m not sure why but for me they were pretty uncomfortable, so uncomfortable that at the end of a day it was a big relief to take them off and switch back to my normal underwear. I do have several friends that love the LD stuff and that’s actually what convinced me to buy the stuff in the first place.

I wear vented polyester boxer briefs with armor shorts or bicycle shorts. Same system for years and years.

I have LD Comfort and they got pretty smelly after a day's riding even though they're touted as being anti-microbial. Could just be me but I switched to Merino wool, which is excellent in that respect and comfort, but they wear out pretty fast in the seat area.

I have used both the moto skivies and the LD comfort. The moto skivies always felt like I was carrying a load in the pants, could never get comfortable. The LD comforts have been great in both heat and cold, yes they can get stinky if worn multiple days with out washing, but they wash easily and dry overnight, eliminating that issue. I have a couple of sets of shorts for the heat along with motoport mesh gear. I use the long sleeve shirt and pants for rain and cold, they also double as base layer when cold and sleeping in a sleeping bag. Warm n safe water resistant heated gear completes the set for year round riding. Your results may differ....grin.

At the base of the argument is how you ride. LDComfort is a better material than others and has properties other materials lack. Motoskivvies claim to fame is the pad like bicycle shorts. (I used to do century rides on bicycles too, so am quite familiar with padded shorts)

It's important to note that with Motoskivvies you have to select which style matches your riding position. No such thing with LDComfort products. No pads, so no worry about seams in the wrong place and the same design works for any riding position.

If you're not riding long days, most anything synthetic or wool will work fine. Avoid cotton as it holds moisture and keeps it next to your skin which will promote development of rash, etc. Seams can be an issue for any product not designed for riding, so be aware of that when you purchase. How it's cut, where seams are relative to your riding position, etc.

Worth noting is that Motoskivvies has a basic flaw in the concept. In bicycling, you are wearing padded shorts with lycra/spandex and nothing else over it. Plenty of air flow except where the pad is. In motorcycling you are covering up the Motoskivvies with riding pants or jeans and that's the worst possible thing you can do. Now you're really not getting any air flow and those materials are not designed to keep moisture off your skin. This leads to the use of powders and other products and you don't need any of that with a product that keeps moisture off your skin.

If you don't ride in hot weather much, the Motoskivvies might be great. LDComfort is designed for hot and cold temps and works extremely well in hot weather. Especially in lower humidity conditions where you can wet it down and use it for evaporative cooling too, but that's a secondary benefit.

I'm a LDComfort fan. Bonus, you can wear them around the hotel lobby w/o looking like you have a diaper on. ;)

I have LDComfort and Klim bottoms base layer in both long and short . Here in the humid area I live in the LDComfort seem to not wick away the moisture as well as Klim. And as others have stated LDComfort smell at the end of the day.

So I'm the only one who finds the LD Comfort stuff stinks after a day of riding? I'd hate to terrorize hotel guests by walking around in them.
I've not noticed my LDComfort being particularly stanky Vs anything else. FWIW, I typically hop in the shower with them on if/when they get ripe and just soap up with them on, strip down and rinse them out w/o wringing them, (just squeeze), then finish my shower. After drying myself off I roll the LDC up in the same towel, or another if I'm at a hotel, and squeeze the rolled up bundle, then unroll and toss the LDC over a chair or lamp. They are dry enough at that point that I could put them back on and 30 seconds later you won't have moisture on your skin.

I suspect the difference is our outer layers. If I've been riding with vented pants or mesh, the LDC is not wet with sweat when I pull my pants off. If I am riding with the non-vented pair of riding pants I have and it gets Hot, everything, pants and LDC or other under layer is soaked and stinky.

Could be my body chemistry too, I generally find polyester shirts get pretty rank smelling when I wear them in the summer.

I have 40,000+ miles wearing only LD comfort base layers, weather it’s 110 in Vegas or 30 in Estes Park, I’m comfortable. Mario makes great stuff at his little factory in Washington. I also have Moto Skivies but don’t wear them at all.
