i've been using mitts for years on various types of street and dirt bikes, kept my hands dry and warm, expecially with grip heaters. don't like heavy gauntlets, so this my choice.

I’m not sure to be honest. We are meeting in Baglan at around 10:00am and planning on eating lunch somewhere before heading back.
Don’t ask me where we are going, there are 3 of us and one likes to do all the route planning and keep it close to his chest!!!
It would be good to catch up and swap notes though, so if not tomorrow, then maybe another time?

I have used Tucono mitts since 2005 when I had a BMW GS1150R but sadly, I couldn’t persuade the Tuconos to fit over the chunkier switchgear of the Super Ten, so after reading the recommendations for the Barkbusters on here, I have got myself a pair. looking forward to toasty and dry hands through the winter!

Well I realize this thread is nearly three years old but I’m wondering what some of you experienced folks now have to say about these devices ? I am seriously considering buying a set for use on the Tenere, seems like they would be great for the cold wet weather which I’ve ridden in a lot lately .

I'm getting the Hippo Hands this winter. I'm sick of being cold!! Every season it's the same crap. I go to the desert or mountains with nothing more than latex gloves under my riding gloves and crappy tee shirts layered under cheap riding gear. I freeze my ass off and end up stopping and shoving my hands behind the exhaust to warm them. I have worn my Klim polyester base layer, inversion gloves, and Stow Away jacket. They do help somewhat but I'm not as tough as I used to be.

When I got my ST I decided to go all out. I have the Badlands Pro jacket and pants, Klim base layer, and looking for a mid layer. I thought of heated gear but I want to try this stuff out first. The Badlands has to be better than what I've been wearing in the past. Believe it or not I'm a cheap bastard. But I worked a boatload of overtime and extra days this summer so I could get some really nice riding gear. Spending over 2000.00 on good riding gear was a hard pill to swallow. I'm glad I did though. So far The Badlands Pro Gear and Shoei Neotech have proven to be the most comfortable gear ever!! Winter will be the true test.....

Here are the Hippo Hands: https://www.hippohands.com/

I'm thinking of the Rogue model. This one offers full coverage and you can still stand up with them mounted. I'm also really excited to try these heated grips that come stock on my bike!!

Yes I cannot recommend the OBR ADV Enduro mitts highly enough for the Tenere or any other bike with handguards installed. Dang near a custom fit, no wonder they show a S10 in their photos. Surely a personal bike of the owner or employee and used in the design of them. Super strong and high quality cordura construction with reflective strips sewn in. Not restrictive at all, I stand very frequently on my bike and doesn't conflict. My last ride this month it dropped into the 30's so I spent the 5 minutes and installed these for the season. Doesn't get any easier than that. They kept my hands warmer and gloves dry but didn't protect my jacket or bike. Lol

I just did a few hundred miles with these yesterday and think they will work fine with heated grips.

Took a ride out yesterday, the temperature wasn’t particularly low and I kept the Oxford Heated Grips on low for some background heat, (I had a life-changing accident 13 years ago and sustained substantial damage to my right hand, so it gets really cold, really quickly even in summer). So the Barkbusters get a big “thumbs-up” from me so far. They may not be as effective as full mitts such as my old Tuconos or Hippo-Hands for example, but I can see they will keep rain off and they reduce the worst of the wind chill and they still allow easy access to all of the switchgear, so a win-win result for Barkbusters and an extended riding season for me!
Thanks for the heads-up on these to everyone who has recommended then.

Longdog thank you very much for your well detailed evaluation, does your Tenere have cruise control ? The Tenere’s with cruise control have a lot more and different switches on the handlebars. Can the Bark-busters be easily collapsed so they pack small for storage in a saddlebag when not needed ?

Yes, I have cruise control, ( mine is a 2017 non ES bike), and yes, the Barkbusters are easily removable, just an Allen wrench for the screw that normally secures the hand guards and a nylon strap. They don’t move when riding and they don’t restrict access to controls and/or levers. I will take a riders view photo and post it later tonight.

OK, here's the rider's eye view of the Barkbusters.
It looks like a very secure setup. Thank you for the pictures. I still think I will go with the Hippo Hands for my application. Just because of not having to bolt on and off to install and remove.

Will the Blizzards fit over the Bark-buster hand guards with shields installed?
