I have a set of Oxford Heated Grips that I am trying to fit to my Gen 2. My question is how do I remove the bar end weights in order to remove the stock grips and fit the Oxford grips? Has Yamaha used some kind of glue or locktite to retain the weights? I am struggling to remove them and to be honest, they don’t seem to be inclined to go anywhere soon!

I know the Gen 1 would just come off when the screw was undone, not sure how these work, but I do remember someone saying that they were attached differently. I will try to find out, in the meantime someone else may come along and assist......
I know, not very helpful.

How about using a flat head screwdriver and place it on the bar weights and tap on it with a hammer. Maybe it needs a little more encouragement.

Alright then, just spoke to Yamaha Uk and they said that the actual barend is a threaded version, not rubber bung mounted, remove the end screw and then look for a hex recess........ I'm not able to look right now but will later.

Finally got mine off on the 2017 model.
took a longer handle tool for more leverage.
It is threaded and unscrews in the counter clock direction.
Think mine had grip glue on the end of it from the heated grips, which brings up another question.
How do you get the heated grips off.
Taken many Harley grips off with no problem, Tenere heated grips have glue all around the end and can not seem to find a location to ease the air hose in without messing up the grips.
Tried twisting both ways several times, they will not budge.

I found that using the heat from the grips (high setting) was enough to soften up the glue.. Also, the weights are screwed in to the bar ends Remove allen screw, then unscrew. Wrap it in a piece of rubber and use a pipe wrench....

Brilliant! Yes, the weights are screwed into the ends of the handlebars. A 12mm hex wrench works the magic and now I can fit the Oxford Heated Grips!

A big thanks to all who took the time and made the effort to reply.
