Bad couple months for my Truck

After going 14 years without an insurance claim I've had 2 claims and 3 incidents with my truck since I bought it in Sept. I hit a deer in December, although I got lucky and he ran into the side of my truck in the wheel well. Left a small dent in the front left fender but not even noticeable unless you were right on it with a light. Then I got T-boned by a guy that ran a stop sign in January, which caused about 5500 in damage, both passenger doors replaced, cab corners pulled, front passenger fender replaced and passenger bed panel refinished. Then two nights ago I was coming home from dropping off my Bicycle for cleaning/tuning service (I'll work on my motorcycle, but bicycles are too complicated for me ::025:: ) I hit a BIG doe on I-95 as I was exiting an off-ramp. Saw it coming, Slowed waaay down, but was probably going 25-30mph when I hit her, spun her butt right into the drivers side quarter panel and she crushed it. Dented the door up good too. Put a huge dent in the big F-250 front steel bumper, cracked the grill, but the headlight did not break to it's credit.

Another 3000 worth of damage (this time with a deductible. ::010::) and an excuse to ride the S10 for a week straight while the truck is in the body shop. That coupled with the facts that I had my whole family in the truck (who were all safe) and that I wasn't on the S10 during any of this are the bright side. I can't believe the luck however, as I've put more mileage on the S10 than the truck since I bought it. I would buy another 3/4-1ton F series truck in a heartbeat however, just due to the fact that it's now protected the family twice. It's a solid well built truck. Had we been in my wife's Mazda 5 during either accident there would have been injuries.

Yup, us Marylanders have a serious deer problem. At one point we had 5 vehicles in the family and all 5 had deer strikes.
Glad you are OK.

No injuries is the most important part , seems unbelievable but I've killed 5 deer with motorcycles and only got seriously hurt once. Around here the DNR says there is a shortage of deer so they are cutting back on doe permits, I say they don't know what their talking about there's way to many deer.

I agree, Maryland is not firearm friendly, and really not particularly hunter friendly either. There needs to be more thought put into management, making it easier for new hunters to get into the sport, and availability of places to hunt, with a variety of weapons. I tried to bow hunt here on the Eastern Shore, at Fair Hill and it's really difficult to get into the lottery. Private land is deer leased, but at 1500 dollars per lease (shared with 5-15 other hunters), it was cheaper for me to buy a license in PA and hunt the PA Game lands with rifle/shotgun. Rifle and shotgun are both extremely limited season, and poorly located areas that don't cull any of the suburban deer populations. (Had to delete the rest of my opinion on MD Politics, suffice to say /rantoff...)

Thank you, I'm going out the Romney event via Harpers Ferry with the Wife this year, and I hope to avoid all of them while on the bike!

I do like venison chili, but I'd also accept a row of these stickers on the door.

Fords attract problems, what else can be said ::013::

Lose the truck, I am firmly convinced that some vehicles really are cursed.

Ya know I have always been a Chevy guy, and this is my first Ford (ever). It's an amazing truck. Just seems to magnet for damage.

There's a reason I moved out of MD after living there for 9 years. It ranks very high on the list of states I would never consider moving to in the future.

I have had three Fords. Two were such absolute Piles of problems I will never even think of touching another again, I seriously detest that brand.
The one an 86 Tbird which would be plagued with Mechanical problems, I would manage to Wreck Three times, that was every other years for the six years I owned it. The Third time was an encounter with a Bovine, however it was fixable.
I happily sold the car, refusing to touch it ever again. While I am not considered a superstitious person, sometimes there is just something wrong, or something great with an object that simply makes no sense.

I do believe certain brands work better for certain people than others.
