I heard a commotion over the fence today. When I looke through the crack. My whacky neighbors 3 mini Dobermans had a cat by the head and back legs stretched out. The other one was trying to gut it. BRUTAL. Don’t think I’ll have to haul this kiti it off.

Lock? HA! This one hits close to home for me.
But I did change the title.

We had a political appointee boss who lived on a big boat in the Washington DC marina, which was really more of a floating house. I never was on the boat but saw photos of the legend because she had 9 cats and (I kid you not) had life jackets for EACH with their names on them. It also supposedly reeked on that boat. Definitely met the definition for Crazy Cat Lady.

As for asshole pets and their owners, meet my neighbor and his f*-ing big fat pitbull. Their fence is close to my bedroom window and the dog has a compulsive need to bark whenever it is outside. The owners apply zero training or restraint because in their words "It's what dogs do." Seems that I need to talk to them at the beginning of every summer, because normally the dog goes out when the wife gets up around 7:30 and I'm already long up. When it's cold, anybody walking by the house on the street can hear the damned dog barking away inside because nobody is home all day. I was in their front hall a while back and the dog's torn the inside of the house to shreds.

A couple of months ago the neighbor started to put the dog out at 5:25 in the morning as he was getting ready to go to work and I finally banged on the door on what was the 2nd or 3rd morning, waking the whole family. Oops Gee My Bad for waking you people after YOUR dog woke me up. Who the F puts out a barking dog at 5:25 am and leaves it out long enough to take a shower? And if it's warm, lets the damned thing bark outside till after 10pm? They've been better since then and I just have to hear it after about 7-7:30 when the wife gets up.

They bought a bark collar which was effective for a week or so. The dog is strong and dumb and just doesn't mind. I bought a electronic bark thing to put on the fence and that drive him to the other side of their yard for a maybe a week.

Other neighbors like the family and aren't so close physically. Plus I'm already the neighbor who doesn't want to socialize (for some reason) so it would be all out bad if I were to call animal control. I love dogs and will get another at some point, especially with retiring, but already know how hard it will be to keep one from barking back.
Pits need to be extinct. I know a guy that got his face tore off when he was a kid by his neighbors pit that “would never hurt anybody”. Kid had been raised around that devil dog. It just flipped out one day.

my brother has a shoot to kill policy on any pit that wanders on his property , powerful dogs . ive seen chihuahuas that if they had any size would be something to fear. my 'huahua chased after a cat, ran behind the car , heard a loud yelp , came home as fast as she could get there.... I hear grey hounds like cats …...

I think dogs are great. I like cats, too. The problem with both those species is that they come with pet owners, may of whom are far bigger assholes than their pets could ever aspire to be. I live in the south, where no one has ever heard of a leash for a dog, and I've lost count of the number of times I've been chased by loose dogs (and even packs of dogs) while riding my bicycle. I ended up buying a pepper spray fogger and putting it on the handlebars. I had to use it recently, when a dog came charging out onto the road after me from someone's yard, and he definitely wasn't looking for a cuddle. He got a face full of the Devil's Antiperspirant. I would have rather sprayed the owner. Just last year, a 66 year old Lake Tillery woman got mauled to death by a couple pit bulls while she was out for a walk. Go out for a walk, get killed by a couple freaking loose dogs. Unbelievable. No doubt the owner gave the standard excuse of "my dogs were just big babies, I can't believe they'd ever hurt someone".

If your neighbor has 45 stray cats living in her yard, then she's obviously feeding them. There may be some local ordinances/housing covenants the prohibit that. Seems like it's time for a call to the local ASPCA or the county agency responsible for animal control, and see if they can offer some guidance.

I'm tellin' ya'....coyotes. Nature's disposal service.
Use to have a couple of acres, and we had barn cats to keep the mice population down. We never spayed or neutered them, as the coyotes would keep the cat population down. Win/win, until we got Lama's. Lama's are very effective at keeping coyotes away.

I called ASPCA. They won't do anything. I'm on my own. Just saw another pallet of kiti food delivered.

I don't know if you live within the city limits of Natchez, but if you do, I found this municipal ordinance on line relating to cats. It's from the Animal Control Ordinance of the City of Natchez, Mississippi:

Sec. 10-133. Animals to be kept in sanitary enclosures; creation of disturbance; owners responsible forremoval of waste.

a) The owners or harborers of all dogs, cats or any other animals within the city are required to
keep the animals within suitable enclosures and are further required to keep the enclosures
sanitary and clean so as to prevent disagreeable odors arising therefrom, or the presence or
breeding of flies, mosquitoes and other pests. It shall be unlawful for the owner or harborer of
any dogs, cats or any other animals to permit the animals to create a disturbance in the
neighborhood or to destroy property in the neighborhood or annoy any person or family, or to
otherwise become a nuisance in any manner, particularly by reasons of noises, odors, filthy
conditions, destruction of property, tearing of garbage bags, scattering of refuse or the breeding
of flies, mosquitoes and other pests. Courtesy tickets, warnings or other notice followed by
subsequent written citations by the animal control officer shall create a rebuttable presumption
as to the violation of this subsection.

I don't know the ins and outs of law enforcement in Mississippi, but enforcement of this section would either fall under the jurisdiction of the municipal police, or a codes enforcement officer from the municipality.

I downloaded the entire ordinance. I can email it to you if you want.

Thanks Send it to me. I'll take it to the police station. I'll probably be wasting my time though.

You can read a story in the news just like this almost every day. Any dog that makes up 3% of the dog population and does 85% of the killing and maiming has a problem and they eat enough of their own owners that the BS narrative about it being bad owners not bad dogs won't fly.
You can forget trying to convince pit owners of this. Even if their dog bites somebody. It will never be the dogs fault.

we have a rescue dog , great fellow, we love him and he is family..... he doesn't like kids. has never bitten a child that we know of , but he was at shelter for some reason . took some time to figure this out , he lets us know because he starts that guttural growl and stares intently at the child . so when children are around we lock him up in another room , tell the parents , do not trust him with the baby . I have rules , visitors must obey. this is my dogs home not theirs , the child any child is more important than this dog , be the adult follow the rules . my boy is a jack russell terrier. a very sweet fellow . no where the dog is and no where your kid is and no problems... simple .

Springer Spaniels suffer from what's called Springer rage syndrome and are known to bite, but they don't make the top 20 by a mile.

I could Google pit bull attacks and post hundreds of links.

This is just a few from last week. Pits have a bad gene in their system and are nothing more than a time bomb with teeth and the owner or no one else is safe around one when their brain blows a fuse.
