Arrow header pipe advice

After much deliberating and head scratching as to whether I should go a stage further with forking my S10, my mind was made up for me after I bagged a very clean set of Arrow headers for my S10, through flea-bay (see photo).

I'm not planning to fit them just yet but I do need some advice, as I've never actually fitted an exhaust system that is essentially, held together with springs.

So, this is for folk who have the same headers on their S10's: Will I need to use some kind of gasket cement or hi temp silicone on the joints that are held together by the springs, or is the fit tight enough to not need any?

the arrow stuff fits great.
I used hi temp silicone, and wiped off the excess that splooged out.

Stupid question, do headers from Gen 1 bikes fit Gen 2? A mate has a set of Arrow headers for his 2012 bike that he's not going to fit, might put them on my 2016 bike.

Unless you want to get rid of the cat, there's little gain in upgrading to an arrow header on a 2nd Gen.
Yamaha did away with the link pipe of the 1st gen.
that said, it all bolts up the same. no mounting points have been changed from year to year.

I guess it's weighing up the weight saving of removing the cat compared to messing with the fueling and needing a flash or Power Commander to sort it out. Sorry for hijacking your thread Mikey! I too used exhaust paste to help with sliding the parts together and sealing them.

meh...I weighed the stockers vs the arrow headers, there's little in it (4lb) according to my scale skillzz

The big savings are in ditching the stock slip on.
I had my ECU flashed. Never bothered with the PCV and other crap.
Bike is fast (for a tenere :) with headers and slip on.
