Finally after 2 months and 4,000 miles I bit the bullet and ordered the Full Arrow Exhaust system and Power Commander V with Auto Tune. Mucho bucks but I have had good luck with the Power Commander, Ingition module and full exhaust system on my FZ1. I guess that is why I felt my Super T need a shot in the arm. love the bike but need more music out of it. I plan on riding this bike for a while.

Anyone else done the same?

Still think the gen2 flash is the biggest boost in Tenere Attitude. May as well go all the way? :)

The Power Commander can do nothing for the throttle restrictions in 1st - 3rd so you really want a Flash or your still gonna be loosing out a lot off the bottom end.

If he add the Gen II to his current set up you better hang on tight to the bars, and order another rear tire. That's a really HOT set up !

Yes- the combination you just ordered is amazing for the Super T. I ordered that combo right after I hit the 4k mark too.

However, I will say this.

To truely unlock this bike, you need to get your ECU flashed with the new ECUnleashed GenII flash. I can't believe how much better my bike runs now. I've had the full arrows system, PCV+AT, Air filter and Gen 1 flash... But nothing can remove the restrictions on the closed loop section like the Gen II ECU flash.

Combine that flash with your recent purchases and you'll never look back.

I had all the above with the exception of Gen 1 flash. By the time I got around to sending in ecu I was lucky enough to get Gen 2 just as it came out. Very happy!!

Where does one order that whole set up? I already have the exhaust and K&N... Need the header and the rest... Point me in the right direction...

So we can flash and add a power commander?
Yes, the Flash is the only way to remove the throttle restrictions

I'd give Jaxon @ RideOnAdv a call - 817-831-9700. He will talk you through all of it in a no pressure conversation. But, as someone who's bolted on all the above, I can tell you that the bike won't even be recognizable once you get it all done. All of those mods work so well together. I used to think get all those mods, then the flash, but after the GenII flash, I don't really think it deserves to be at the bottom of the list. I'd put it at #1 or #2 right by the headers/PCV + AT.

IMO you still need the PCV + AT even with the flash if you've got headers. Might be fine if you've got the OEM headers, but if I zero'd out the AFR's in the PCV, I still got surging at low RPM's and the acceleration was significantly flatter. After >500 miles, I accepted my first round of trims and am contemplating shutting off the AT at this point, or at least scoping down the % change range it can tweak at any given time. I only had a handful of cells that changed fuel in the double digits, so I was very close right out of the gate. I've found that accepting trim after trim leads to a fuel table that's a mess. Accept trims once or twice. If you are still getting whacky trims after one or two times, your baseline map was garbage to start with.

Anyway, the only place where you might lose a very small amount at the very low end of the power curve is with a slip on, but when you get the motor up in the RPM's a little (can't remember, but I think it starts to pick back up above 4k RPMS) it bumps you back up and power gains come back into play. Still all the aftermarket cans weigh significantly less than the OEM boat anchor, and my Leo doesn't need to be repacked for an exorbitantly long time, so I'm happy.

/endsermon

The quick and dirty is - give Jaxon a call.

I started into the motor performance aspect slowly. I added headers and found the bike too lean in the low range. I don't ride down there often, so I just lived with it.

Then I got a 1:1 throttle map with no ignition restrictions. BANGO. That is what the Dr. ordered.

Next I added the Leo Vince slip on. Still a bit more, mostly bark but there is some added bite in there too.

I still need to play with the fueling a bit to optimize the setup, but she has a SERIOUS amount of midrange now. Just like this motor SHOULD.

If I had to order it starting from stock it would look like this:
1. Suspension
2. Flash
3. Headers
4. Slip on

ac

PS: "1. Suspension" is FAR ahead of any of the motor mods. It made me WAY faster than all of the motor mods ever could.

I would maybe swap 1 and 2, especially as 1 is a fair bit cheaper, and 2 gives a bigger edge for two-up use, a lot depends on how and where you ride, them restrictions will kill the bike on mountain switchbacks, but the suspension is useless with two heavy people on board.

3 ices the cake, and 4 is the ribbon around the whole lot.

Howdy fellas,

Brand new to the community and I already like what you guys are sharing. I'm picking up my 2013 white this week and have been reviewing what the general consensus is on mods. Regarding the flash where does one get that done? Is that something from Ride On Adv as well?

Thanks in advance,

-AR

Look up ECUnleashed. Look for their dealers and find one to call and talk to. You will probably have to remove your ECU and send it to them if there is not one nearby, or take your bike to your Dealer and let them handle the removal and leg work. Figure on around $500.00 if you do it yourself ($450 plus shipping plus tax) or closer to $600 if you have your Dealer handle everything.

I would recommend the Arrow header and whatever slip-on you choose, but would do the re-flash before I spent money on the PCV and autotune. The re-flash and full exhaust gets it really close. Saves about 12lbs and adds a little oomph over stock. There is a little "surging" at very low rpm's if you're trying to hold a steady speed in a low gear (2500 rpm's in second gear for example) but other than that it's damn near perfect. I'm not even sure if the PCV and autotune can get rid of that either.

There may be differing opinions on this, and I know it was not on your list, but I would keep the OEM air filter. BMC's and K&N's are re-useable but don't filter as well, but more importantly, I don't think they pass more air than stock UNLESS you open up the air intake to your air box, so why bother.

Umm...I don't think I can agree with that in good conscience. With 2 people aboard the stock shock, the bike geometry is severely compromised. Getting a better spring rate and proper sag will really keep the bike handling and more poised...especially on mountain switchbacks.

I really keep 1 and 2 together. The combination "fixes" the bike and is probably what Yamaha could have done if they offered a special version for $19k+ like Ducati, KTM and BMW.

Thanks for the info Scott. I'm looking into the ECUnleashed right now. Looks like no shop near me but a few days of downtime will probably be worth the improvement.

Pulling the ECU is super easy too. You can probably do it in <15 mins if you work diligently.
