Bought a Bigfoot meant for Gen2 for my Gen1 from online stores. An example of it here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-YAMAHA-XT-1200-ZE-XT1200ZE-SUPER-TENERE-2014-2018-kickstand-sidestand-stand-extension-enlarger-pad/32954479093.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.23.506f68566ucijE&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_1_10065_10068_10890_319_10546_10059_10884_317_10548_10887_10696_321_322_10084_453_10083_454_10103_10618_10307_537_536,searchweb201603_80,ppcSwitch_0&algo_expid=a0af367f-6527-43bf-a119-5d5d921ff4ad-3&algo_pvid=a0af367f-6527-43bf-a119-5d5d921ff4ad

But I bought one that is local to my country.

Need to cut off a section of the top plate for fit. Arrow show where the cut occurs. Also, the Gen1 feet is thinner than Gen2, and this would leave it loose when the bolts are applied. Use a 1mm plastic sheet or Aluminum or whatever that works as a spacer to sandwich between the 2 plates.

I bought mine off Ebay (China) for $25.00 Canada delivered
Exactly like the one in the photo above fits and works great.

Do you mean to insert the 1mm spacer material under the Gen 1 stand foot before installing the extender to take up the loose space? Also, the link provided in the thread seems to no longer work properly; anyone have an updated link?

Mine is Gen I 2013. Would this fit with the modifications discussed earlier?
Most likely. Stainless steel is hard. If you are comfortable with doing the work and have the tools to grind/cut the tabs to fit the side stand you should be fine.

I have a good side stand enlarger that I found on Ebay last year $25. Canadian. The upper portion is an aluminum alloy and the lower contact piece is made of a very hard and durable material. One thing to be aware of is: by adding an extension to your side stand be very careful where you park your bike. You can still park on a level surface, but NEVER on a slope to the right.

I find the foot on mine to be perfectly acceptable. Especially compared to my 690. The only issue I have is it seems like the tenere leans too far over on the side stand

Mine leans way over too. I prefer that to less lean. Mine lean is attributed to having my pre load set on 2 helmets. I weigh 300lbs. . . .. . . .so that's where it works best for me. But, if your pre load is also set pretty high, that could be the reason for the lean.

The lean on ES bikes is greatly affected by preload. Minimum preload has them stood rather upright. Max preload, as Sierra 1 says, gives them a good lean to the left. I know which I prefer!
