Rode Goldwing a little over 400 Smiles yesterday along with 4 friends, beautiful weather and scenery ! Other than a couple gas stations and a carry out sandwich place we didn’t stop much.
Tenere Tire’s are pretty well worn out and no CB radio , plan to put a few more local miles on those tires before changing them both front and rear Probably later this week or next week, have spare rear rim so that tire is already mounted.

Been out quite a few times in the past two weeks. All within 30 miles of my residence. Found a bunch of great camp spots. In my travels I have seen established campgrounds jam packed.
I’m a little leery of traveling out of state or even county just yet. Good thing is there is plenty of great riding/camping here at home.

I have been going out for day rides several times a week. Taking a lunch mostly but one day did BBQ they had shaded seating outside the joint and I was the only one there.
Looking forward to being able to do some overnight trips later this summer.

Planning on a 45 to 60 day trip from So. Cal. to Alaska in 2022. Plans are to travel only 6 hours or less a day (easy going) and when I get to the Yukon and thru Alaska, stay at campgrounds for more than a night and do some prospecting for gold. Anyone want to travel with me? Been researching for a year now and am ready for retirement in 2021.

Not up for the trip, but, I am a little envious. It sounds pretty epic, I’m sure you’ll see some incredible places. I think there a lot to be said for shorter riding days when touring, sometimes I think we try to fit too much in and then miss so much. I guess you’ll be taking plenty of pics along the way.

Are you going to blog the prep, the trip?

I definitely want to go with you. But my wife would never go for that.
I just love the way it feels riding everyday and living off the bike. It's addictive.
There is so much to see on an Alaska trip, I've done it 3 times but don't see me doing it again.
I try to get my wife to go back but she thinks she is getting to old do ride that far again.

Sounds like a trip of a lifetime. Personally I love planning the trip so much! Its like foreplay.
What distance do you cover on average in a 6 hr day?

Rode section one of the NRBDR last weekend. Section two will be next weekend. Camping in a primitive site around Burnt-Rossman Hills State Forest, NY.
I dump my non-essential gear in the tent and ride the route. Side cases, top case, etc.. Tools, fuel/water, first aid kit, etc., ride in a dry bag. Don't have knobbies, have to keep it light!

To all,
This will be my longest trip to date as I am getting a little older (will be 65). I have been on 2 week trips and shorter ones with my 3 boys and there is nothing like it. It is just sad that as we have time, or learn to make time, things still are in the way. As for mileage traveled per day, that will depend on the sights to see along the way. But, looking at traveling an average of 50 mph, maybe hit 250 to 300 a day. This will be for paved roads. As for dirt roads throughout the Yukon and Alaska, only a max of 150 miles per day. But I do plan on staying "recovery" days out in the boonies prospecting as the old timers did with a few modern toys.
As for a blog?? What's that??? A few of you are probably laughing right now, but my kids just 2 years ago bought me an IPhone as I has a flip phone before that. I am very savvy on Cad/Cam systems and 3D models so I guess I now must research the "Blog" era.
Eemsreno, tell me about your trip to Alaska. Lessons learned? Three times, must have been great.

Just booked a few weekend camping trips for next year.
ABR festival somewhere (midlands I think).
Nick Sanders Mini Mach festival Wales.
ZX14R forum meet Prum Germany.
I’m having the S10 suspension tuned for comfort at the end of the month and it will be interesting to see which bike MrsR then prefers to ride on. Currently she prefers the Zx14r but that’s already had the suspension tuned

My plan is to ride the CABDR once I heal up. Most of it will be on my Beta. The Super Tenere is too much bike for a lot of the sections.
