I am 6'2" with a 34" inseem, I find that I have to sit at the back of the rider seat otherwise my knees constantly bang the black plastic panels that cover the electronics on the right and the radiator on the left!! Having the seat levelled, meant that I didn't slip forward as quickly and bang my knees but I still find after a while I have slid upto the tank and have to push my bum back towards the passenger seat to get my knees free from the bodywork, but I still really enjoy riding the tenere!!

I did fit 2” risers to the bars and that definitely improved the rider comfort.

Risers for sure and seat leveled, I may look into. I'm all over my KLR seat and have risers on it and very comfortable. Thanks for sharing everyone

I'm just over 6'1" and have the Gen 1 with the Tourateck risers, about a 1 inch lift. I still have my knees pressed against the back of the side panels. Would the Rox be an improvment and is there enough slack in the cables?

Any tall riders out there? I'm 6'1" and took the bike on a 325 mile journey yesterday and I got a little uncomfortable at times. Im looking at some risers, but not sure on foot placement as well I've got 33" inseam.

Anyone else tall out there and how do you feel ergonomically? Leg room, etc? I guess I'm used to bigger touring bikes and positioning, so I look forward to hearing from other tall riders out there. Maybe I'll get used to it. Thanks!
I,M 6'2" AND 34" Leg, seat in low average screen bikes great just comfortably done 2500 miles 12 days round europe

Since we're all sharing, I'm 6 foot and a 33" inseam. Found pain between my shoulder blades on longer rides. Added a Rox adjustable riser along with longer hydraulic lines. Much improved comfort.

I still struggle with the seat, but doing the simple leveling is a major improvement. I tend to use the stock seat in high setting. Before leveling, I found the low setting overall better. I also have a Corbin seat that I've found I prefer on the low setting, but with a bit too much forward tilt on the high setting (the leveling method doesn't work with the Corbin setup).

I've found the leveled stock seat in the high setting my current favorite, but am getting some sore butt and a bit of pressure from the sides of the seat under my legs. I'm going to revert to the Corbin on low soon to do a more complete and long term comparison. Both are much better than stock. I'm nipping at the edges of optimization.

6’2” 33” inseam, seat in low position, stock handle bars and stock risers. I find my ‘13 S10 to be comfortable for me from everything to stop-n-go traffic, short scoots and long rides.
Have had limited time off the slab but when standing on the pegs everything is right where it needs to be.

How do you level the seat in high?

Check out this thread.
https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/how-to-level-the-seat-video.25413/page-2#post-364573

Basically, remove the middle set of rubber bumpers under the base of the seat. Then insert the "tongue" of the seat into the lower "tongue receiver" (where you'd put the tongue if in the low position). Press firmly to latch it and the seat will be nicely leveled. Free and it works. But watch the video that in that thread. You'll see that the solution takes all of a minute to do.

Just keep the plastic seat position thing in the high position. If you move it to low, this won't work.

Good luck,

I'm 6'2 with 34" inseam and the seat in high position works fine, stock shield and bars work fine as well. Never tried low position on the seat and see no use for anyone over about 5'10" there, and the seat slopes more in low position. In high I see no need to modify the seat.

Thank you Ron, I'm learning and adapting more to this bike the more I ride it. That is one reason I take modifications slow to ensure that I need them and that I can have a real feel if it's a benefit if I was to change something.

Im 6,2, 33 inch inseam. 275#s. Ergos were good for me in stock position but I wanted better seat. I obtained a seat concepts saddle that is firmer and wider, but it sits me up taller and a little farther back. Was great for my butt, but after 1200 miles in 3 days I was sore between the shoulder blades. Simple 1 inch up and 1 inch back Rox riser fixed it. I have try ed 4 windscreens. I think the one I'm using now is the calsci tallest. Next spring I will go to the xtall parabellum. I do worry about hitting my throat on it off road. Maybe I'll put my givi 2 piece back on.......

I find that it's all relative. Riding a Gen2 FZ1 while wearing riding pants (ATGATT) would make my knees hurt and cut off circulation after a bit. Then I moved to a WR250R and it feels great except for the dirt bike seat on long trips to the ride. The Super Tenere is awesome in comparison. Something like beads to get air under your bum on hot days would be nice, but it's a lot better than a sport bike or a dirt bike on the highway.

I'm 6'-0" (183cm) and 240lbs (109kg). I was worried the rear spring wouldn't be enough for me, but it does fine on the road so far with preload turned up and damping too.

Looking at my picture below, the only concerns I have is my legs making contact with the crashbars in the event I run into something. That wouldn't be good.

That's another common, often written about complaint; that she's under sprung. I'm the same height, but weigh 300lbs (136kg). Riding solo, my bike is carrying more than many other bikes carrying riders AND luggage. When my wife adds her 150lbs (68kg), we're right at the bike's listed limits. And, not once have I ever felt that the suspension is lacking. Like he said, adjust as necessary. Then again, I may not be experienced enough to know what a bad suspension is.

Sounds like nice set ups pdrhound and max_pa. I'll have to take a look at seat concepts as I'm not familiar with them. Thanks!

I am 6'4 36" inseam. I am new here, my first post, I just bought my first used 2012 S10 I will need to get taller handlebars, lower footpads and will do the seat level mod as soon as i pic it up on Aug 30 from the dealer (im out of province) Looking forward to modding her to fit me
Welcome from Texas. I understand the why, but be careful with the foot peg lowering. As well as she handles in the corners/curves, you'll be scraping them ALOT, if you lower them too much.
