So, I sent a note to Altrider to see if they could find an old dusty one on the floor that fell off a shelf and I got the below response. Maybe if enough people weigh in they'll put it back in production.

"I am checking in regarding the Pillion rack for the Super Tenere. Since I am the person who talks to the customers sometimes getting my superiors to believe what I am saying takes evidence to prove my point. I am currently making a list of all the customers who have requested the Pillion rack from me, and I noticed that you mentioned seeing mentions on the forums that it is a sought after part? If you happen to come across this link again in the future or if any other Super T riders you know of are looking for this part, please have them call or email me their request!

If you want to make a post on the Super T forum saying I am making a list of people who would by this part if we can get back into production, and for sale in the next year. I would love to hear from them.

Would you buy this if we put it back into production?

Hello - new here, but I found this thread after also contacting Altrider and finding out they no longer make the pillion rack for the Super Tenere. Once I found this thread, I wrote back to Altrider and said:

"There is a current forum going on in YmahaSuperTenere.com where people are wanting this option to be put back into production. Appears there are Super Tenere owners like me out there, who are finding little to no options for their Pillion rack, and resorting to making their own. I think you would have some immediate sales if you made some of these, myself included. The forum lists a response from Lyndell Jensen at Altrider, asking about community interest in this product. The post from 2/16/22 shows that message. Here is the link to the forum topic in question:

https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/any-options-available-for-a-rear-pillion-luggage-rack.30819/

Any way you guys might consider making these again?"

anyway, we'll see what they say...

My apologies, folks, I forgot to add Lyndell Jensen's email address at Altrider to express your interest in a pillion rack. It is:

This looks good to me.
+1 I like how it looks in the low position. I did the same with the stock rack in the lower position but I like the width and the attachment points on this, I might have to spring for a Nomadic rack as well. (I used the 'inline' positioning for a drybag and tent on a trip to Big Bend.)

Why would I need another rack? This looks good to me. I'll just put a big dry bag inline (not sideways).

Just personal preferences, sir. Some like a mid-rack with a little more substance to set things on and attach things to than the oem plastic piece provides. Some may think it looks a bit more "complete" with a pillion rack matching the tail rack. To each his own.

Thatd be a great idea for them to bring these back. Plenty of S10s sold used still. When I bought my gen 1, I wanted their plate. Little lady no longer rides and dont need the seat. I was surprised it was no longer available gen 1 or gen 2. Fortunately I was able to eventually get one used finally. Its a pretty basic setup and surprised its not set aside as an "available product" upon demand.

I went with this Altrider system for the simple reason it allows me to use the fuel and water Rotopax system for off the grid travels.
The Rotopax uses a retaining system that requires a solid mounting surface such as the Altrider racking. The OE surface is inadequate for that.
On top of the Rotopax I slip on the water/dust proof duffle for the journey.
There is no doubt, the S10 is the SUV of moto's, you can pack it like a mule for off grid excursions.
FYI, the Yamaha paniers system is replaced with my Mosko soft paniers when I go off grid for a while. But I do switch back to the Yamaha cases for the simple reason they are easier to use as a daily usage and rides especially on tarmac or grocery getter.

What mount are you using for the gas rotopax on the AR pillion rack?

In the first picture I show the Rotopax mounts in their relative locations but not mounted to the racking. When not in use I remove them because they stick up and get in the way of using the racks alone.
In the second picture you can see the location of the mounting holes to mount the Rotopax mounts.
The pillion rack I used a thread setter insert for easy on off mounting. While the rear rack just has 2 holes with bolt's.

I should take them to a machine shop owning friend and see what he could build them for.
I'd be interested in this. I've also had direct conversations with Lyndell from Altrider where he told me their leadership has killed the idea of bring theirs back due to the current shipping delays and materials shortages.
