Anthony Re-Flash Done, Full Arrow Exhaust Purchased; What Next?

I had my 2016 ST (with 5,600 miles) re-flashed by Anthony recently. It was all that everyone said it would be -- great, and I really love the bike now. That was the best bang for the buck I have ever gotten for one of my motorcycles. When I had Anthony do the re-flash, I told him that I had purchased (but not installed) a full Arrow header and exhaust system. I asked him to do the re-flash in such a way that it worked with the Arrow system. Later, I asked him if his re-flash would work with the Arrow exhaust system once I had the exhaust system installed. He said that, typically, the Gen 2 STs work well with the Arrow system. My question is this: Does anyone have experience with (or advice regarding) an Anthony re-flash and a full Arrow system but NO other modifications? In other words, what can I expect when I put on the full Arrow system on top of the Anthony re-flash? Will it work well? I would obviously like a power increase and better sound from the Arrow system, but am hoping that it does not negate all the "rideability" benefits achieved with the Anthony re-flash, or require a second re-flash. Also, will this combination require me to add a Power Commander V or other product to make the re-flash work with the full Arrow system? Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome Major!! From what all the guys here on the forum are saying, the re-flash and full exhaust will be more than sufficient.

My personal experience has been getting the most benefit from a dyno tune and Power Commander. It's only a matter of how deep your pockets are. A good dyno tune does not come cheap. To get near perfect stoichiometric AF ratio and rideable power band takes quite a few hours on the rollers. Just make sure your throttle bodies are synced and the bike is in a high state of tune before proceeding.

I contacted Anthony regarding flashing my S10 but he is not able to do Canadian bikes apparently. Ivan, flashed all my previous rides, confirmed. My search continues.

From my experiences flashing other bikes, a power commander is a must to play with mapping. It is necessary or easier if you are gonna have a custom map made while dynoing.

There is a guy in Toronto area who does flashes of the S10. JSflashtune is what he goes by. I think he has a facebook page. He has a video on you tube of him doing a S10 on a dyno. Give him a shout and see if he can fix you up.
2wheeldynoworks can do Canadian bikes as well if you want to ship across the border.

If he has eliminates the factory 02 closed loop then its best to get a PCV & Auto Tune so you can dial in the correct fuel. These bikes have had some lean areas in the stock map every year. Ive done tons of these with a different brand flash that has taken out the closed loop. With the factory closed loop still operational it will fight with the PCV & AT. If you get to this point I have tons of maps you can try. You will need a new 02 bung in the back of your arrow headers, and disconnect your two stock units. After that you can do the air box mod and UNI filters. Add the correct spark plugs on top of those mods and you WILL have a winning combo. Ive worked on a "few".......

Champion cycle in T.O. also offers flash.

Thanks for all the replies. My question is a bit more basic, as I am new to all this tuning stuff and am primarily concerned about one aspect -- rideability/smoothness. The basic question is: Now that I have had Anthony reflash it successfully, after I have someone install the Arrow header and slip-on, will the bike run okay with just those 2 things done (i.e., the re-flash and Arrow full system), or will the bike NEED to have a Power Commander V or full dyno tune? NOTE -- I am concerned about rideability the most, NOT absolute maximum power and torque. I suppose I also don't want to have horrible gas mileage (although I am not overly concerned about the loss of a few mpg's), or do damage to the bike. I like how it rides now after the Anthony re-flash, but want better sound and maybe a bit more oomph (which is why I am putting on the Arrow system). But, I don't need the bike to be at the highest possible state of tune, as I am not trying to race someone and would like to stop putting money into the bike (if possible). In other words, will I be able to get away without doing more work to the bike after adding the Arrow system, or will adding the Arrow full system on top of the Anthony reflash either (1) require Anthony to reflash it, or (2) require more work to the bike like installing a PCV or doing a full dyno tune. There is one related follow-up question: If a PCV is needed, will that erase what Anthony has done to the bike in the reflash? [I am not too clear on how a PCV works versus the ECU that Anthony re-flashed.]

This is the problem with having an ecu flashed by posting it some where as opposed to having it flashed on the Dyno. If you are using a postal service and can tell the person flashing the ecu what changes you have made to the exhaust and filter etc they should be able to adjust the tune accordingly. But this assumes that at some point in the past the tuner has tuned a S10 on the Dyno that had the same exhaust and filter and can dial in the map changes to your ecu that they made on the original. Of course it’s still a generic map because every engine is different. The only way to get an accurate map specific to your bike is on the Dyno.

Update. So, yesterday, I picked up my bike from Coleman Powersports. I had them install the full Arrow exhaust system discussed above (i.e., header and slip-on) on my Gen 2, 2016 Super Tenere. Wow. I am happy to report that it works great. More importantly, it did not adversely affect the Anthony Corcella re-flash that I had done previously, and does not require a Power Commander V as someone had told me. Whatever Anthony had done to re-flash the ECU (and, I note that I DID tell him that I planned to install a full Arrow system before he re-flashed it -- can't say if he did anything different knowing I was going to install the Arrow system, or if this is his standard tune), it works well with the new exhaust system. I only rode it for a couple of hours but I don't see any degradation in performance from the OEM exhaust system with the re-flash. I THINK it is a slight bit faster, but that might be in my head because I was having fun running it hard. The sound is incredible -- not too loud, but deep and melodious. I love it. In the neighborhood, if you coast along at low rpms, it won't wake anyone up. But, if you roll on the throttle, it rumbles nicely. For $750 (for the full system), it appears to be a quality piece, looks great with the carbon fiber endcap, and sounds perfect, so I don't see spending any more for another brand. I suppose that I might be able to squeeze a couple of horsepower more if I had it dyno'ed, but I don't see that doing this would be worth the cost. I am very pleased with my bike now -- a totally different and better bike than when I bought it.

HI Sir so install new full arrow system,
I need new o2 sensor? I cannot use the stock one?
Isit a big mod there?
Mine is a 2013 does it make a difference with the o2 sensor. Do I need to replace new one or I can reuse the stock one... Thank you

This is part of a response I got from Dynojet regarding my PC6 and a 2013 ST. "We would recommend the Wide Band O2 Sensors for this tuning. Either with the Auto Tune Accessory for the Power Commander tuning device or by having the bike tuned professionally on a dynamometer. Whichever you prefer." Hope you have already had your question answered.

I can’t understand why you would want to have an ecu flash and then put a PC on as well? The flash should have sorted out the fuel maps so that the O2 sensor can be turned off. If the O2 sensor is left switched on it will fight against the new ecu maps.

I had mine flashed years ago by AVC8130. Did all the good. I disconnected my O2 sensors for the heck of it and it ran like shit instantly. I didn't make it out of the yard before I plug them back in. I have a PCV with the map for my headers installed. My advice is save your money on that if your flashing. TBH I can disconnect the PCV and not really tell any difference.
